Re: Anakin is not a special little flower

(OP Here): I like to read Anakin in many iterations, I think he's a very versatile character, and with all the insane amount of themes that are going on with Star Wars at any one time, he can be written in many different ways.

As I said, lately I'm not so much for the apologist stories where: a). there is time-travel and it's all about fixing the Order and lambasting its teachings because it caused Anakin to fall, so basically the victim is blamed and it's all about poor Anakin and making a perfect existence for him; or b). there is redemption after Mustafar and even with all the shit Anakin pulled, the fic ends with a HEA for Anakin & family, and say Yoda pointing out that Anakin is "the future of the Order".

I don't know up to which point, but I agree with you, Anakin has issues that have nothing to do with his upbringing (for myself, his issues have to do with himself and with the inadequate insight he has into his motivations and his narcissism etc). His past is something to be taken into consideration, but it's not sufficient to excuse his acts.

What I want, is an Anakin who also started like in TPM, but who is ultimately an adult.

If there is time-travel, then the point is not to fix everything to be better because Anakin is the "chosen one", but inspite of it, because there were a 1000 ways they could have prevented Order 66, without needing Anakin (or his emotions and attachments) for it. If there is redemption, let there be real consecuences for Anakin, and let him face them as an adult who is responsible for his actions (i.e. say if someone goes on a murdering spree, and then saves hundreds? he gets a life sentence instead of death row, but he still gets punished).

If there is to be greatness in Anakin, I would like to see it's not because he gets excused or his actions are glossed over, but because they are not. He screwed up, he knows it, and yet ends up being a BAMF because he owns up to it and will try to redress the hurts as much as he can, even though he knows what it will cost him. He is done being the willing victim of circumstance; he will fix what he can, because he will choose for himself to do the right thing.

How about an Order that when finding out they fall at the hands of the chosen one say "fuck that shit", and instead of falling over themselves for Anakin and to change the Code, they find ways to better themselves all across the board, to protect their temples, and beat Sidious with or without Anakin, after all, he's not essential to the plan.

Basically, I want a Republic and Order that endure (Anakin or no Anakin); a fic where Anakin could be a huge help to save everything, but where utimately he is not necessarily needed.

That being said, any and all interpretations you make to this promt are wellcome, I love reading!
