Suicidal Han

Remember right before it's revealed that Han was promoted to General, how Leia says "I wonder who they got to pull that off" in a tone that clearly says it's a crazy (albeit, necessary) mission, and she wouldn't have been a part of it if Han wasn't? I started wondering why Han would choose this mission when he implies that he was offered the presumably safer one, and then I remembered how no-care he was about the possibility of dying when he went to find Luke on Hoth, and that he returned to Yavin without any knowledge that he would be able to help (I got the idea that the falcon was to large to make the trench run, there's no way he could have known for sure that Luke would need him, and even if he tried to protect the pilots on their runs he would be endangering Chewie which isn't a decision I imagine he'd make lightly, without some other issues).

I'd like a story dealing with the possibility that he might be suicidal. I'd love for the story to explore the reasons he got that way, everyone's (meaning the main gang, but general populace is fine too) reactions to finding out, how they found out, and how they help him.

Gen or whatever pairing the author prefers is fine, though if there are pairings I would prefer Luke/Han/Leia, with the twins giving special attention to taking care of Han and making sure he's safe and alive.
