[FILL] Part 1

I haven't gotten to the actual prompt yet, just the intro. But fair warning; I've never written for this fandom before!

Also, please forgive the tense changes. When I write, I write how it feels it should be, and then edit later. I tried to edit the tenses to be consistent, but I was having trouble with it and just wanted to get it posted. I'll fix it when I post it to AO3. Any suggestions on how to edit it would be appreciated! My sister says I should write the first scene in present tense, but I'm not sure. Anyway, here it is!

Luke held Han's face tenderly and knocked their foreheads together with a big goofy grin on his face. He started babbling happily to Han about how he knew he'd come back, but truth be told, he didn't. He hoped he would, but he didn't know

Luke knew that he was touching Han more intimately than friends usually did, but he was too happy to care. Never in his life had he been so happy to be proven right; he was so happy that he could almost kiss Han if they weren't in a room full of people. But then Leia squeezes between him and Han, and suddenly the spell is broken and Luke can hear everything again.

"I knew there was more to you than money," Leia says. She looks certain and she sounds certain, and Luke remembers how she told him that Han had to make his own choices. Leia never told Luke that he was foolish and naive for believing that someone like Han would help; she just calmly told him to let Han decide for himself. Maybe she really did know. Maybe insulting Han was her way of teasing and flirting with him.

Jealousy flooded Luke. Leia's one arm held him close, and he should've been happy because she was beautiful and he'd been hoping to be her hero since he first saw her. But her other arm held Han even closer and she had the same wide goofy grin that Luke had, and she was looking at Han like he was the real hero here. Like he was the person who won the battle, and the Rebellion couldn't possibly have succeeded without him. And that as long as he was with them, there was no question that they would destroy the Empire once and for all.

Luke knew that he was looking at Han like that a moment ago, and he suddenly didn't know who it was he was jealous of.

"Tell me again why I can't leave yet?" Han grumbled. The Rebels really seemed to like making his life miserable. First he had to wait until after they had all their battle plans finished to get his money, and now they were making him wait before he could use it! And to top it all off, everyone was looking at him strangely.

"It takes a little while for everything to settle after a battle, Han," Luke replied. "Plus everything's being set up for the Award Ceremony. Leia want's to get that over with before everyone starts packing."

Luke smiled at Han and it reminded him too much of the way the Rebels were looking at him. Like they worshiped him. Though he could've sworn he saw a hint of fond exasperation in Luke's smile that the others didn't have.

"Don't look at me like that," Han snapped.

Luke's smile morphed into a confused frown. "Don't look at you like what?" he asked.

"Like the Rebels do."

Now Luke looked curious and slightly amused. "How do the Rebels look at you, Han?" the corner of his mouth was twitching as he tried not to grin, and Han wanted to punch him right in that amused face. But Han couldn't hurt Luke. Not after he flew straight into a battle just for him. Han turned away.

"I don't know," he huffed. "Like they're in awe, I guess. I ain't anyone special, but they look at me like they can't believe I actually helped them and they have to be eternally grateful for it. Some of 'em even followed me around asking for my autograph."

Luke laughed heartily. "Han you're a war hero," he said between chuckles. "That's normal; I get that too. It'll stop eventually. It's not like we're legends like Ben apparently was. You should see the look Leia gets on her face when she talks about him."

Luke went back to scanning the crowded room for his friend Wedge, and Han was about to reply when a look of shock passed Luke's face.

"What's wrong, kid?"

"I found Wedge," Luke choked out, "and he's kissing my old girlfriend."
