It's established fanon that Hux's parents are emotionally distant at best and actively abusive at worst. When he meets Han and Leia (diplomacy? kidnapping? modern AU? go nuts!), he expects them to be ten times worse given Kylo's whining and bitching...but actually, they are completely delightful even when they're bickering with each other and Hux adores them.
