"--I thought it was an amusing term." Padme finished with a laugh.
Anakin averted his eyes when Obi-Wan quirked an eyebrow. "Anakin did you really use one of my phrases as a pick up line?"
"No. I didn't mean to and I did have to explain that it meant negotiations with a lightsaber."
Shaking his head Obi-Wan couldn't stop himself from smiling. It was good to have them all being honest with each other. Liberating to finally leave the pretenses behind them. A selfish part of him was delighted to be allowed to be part of their lives.
"Your handmaidens did an excellent job with breakfast." Scanning the room he noticed their absence for the first time.
"They always do." Wiping her mouth Padme looked away from him to gather her strength. After all those years Obi-Wans' smile still left her feeling weak in the knees. "I sent them away so we could continue planning without distraction."
A jealous part of her was glad to have them gone just because they noticed how attractive "Master Kenobi" was. Sometimes Padme felt like a tick ready to pop and the last thing she needed was to see her friends eyes dart over the Jedi master. His friendly nature had already had him on good terms with them. She had been surprised when she heard him inquiring about a sick relative. While Padme would have sent them off regardless she didn't have the patience for dealing with any potential flirting.
"I don't think Master Yoda will be as open as you're hoping." Anakin murmured. His fork jabbed into a stab of meat holding it in place as he slashed it into smaller pieces. "He always advises me against attachments and to let go of them."
"If the council isn't willing to make reforms what would you wish to do?" Being a Jedi was a dream of Anakins' and Obi-Wan wondered if he was prepared to give it up for his family.
"I don't want to give up either."
"Anakin..."
"I won't lose my family!" The younger Jedi responded hotly then more softly: "I won't give up you either."
Struck speechless Obi-Wan watched Anakin as he stalked out muttering promises to return once he cooled down. It was good to see his former Padawan was still taking his suggestions on attaining a cool head. To his side Padme stood sighing to herself when she walked.
"I feel utterly ridiculous waddling like this. Most of the time my outfits help create the illusion that I'm striding along like normal." Her face was flushed from a combination of embarrassment and arousal. It had to be the hormones making her so emotionally charged. Seeing Obi-Wan sitting so regally and as handsome as ever only brought more of her insecurities to the surface. If he was a sleek Bonmore Lion she was a Vont'coo slug.
"Pregnancy suits you." He remarked warmly making her stop completely to see if she misheard him.
"I have no need for empty flattery." The former queen informed haughtily.
"I never give it, Senator. Especially not to politicians." That spark of amusement she adored lit his eyes as he chuckled. "You look gorgeous Padme, truly. I'm not sure if you intend to but you seem more fierce when in the senate. Your eyes have a brightness to them."
"I'm sure this," she gestured to her very large belly, "is highly desirable."
"Plenty of men feel empowered to know their lover is carrying their child. I'm sure Anakin feels the same."
A pout formed before she could help it, he thought she was worried how Anakin saw her. Having a husband like Anakin left very little doubt that he loved her for her even if she was...round. No, Padme was worried how Obi-Wan saw her. Being considered nurturing and motherly wasn't what she wanted to hear. "Perhaps but I'm asking how you honestly see me. Ignoring how Jedi regard motherhood do I look disgusting to you ?"
The bluntness of her statement startled him, "What--? Of course not."
Padme sighed because there was no way to ask if he saw her as desirable without losing her dignity. The Jedi master saw her as another life form pure and simple. Were there any men that saw pregnant women on the street and wanted them? "Nevermind."
"Padme...," his hand cupped her cheek,"you've always been a very beautiful woman. Nothing has changed that. "
The soft kiss on her cheek wasn't anything new, he usually greeted her that way when he visited her. Anakin had once said it was how Obi-Wan only greeted his closest female friends. Even so her skin warmed at the contact, glancing up was a mistake because it's easy to get lost in his eyes. Closing the gap between them Padme initiates the kiss feeling a spark of pure want when their lips make contact. He's not prepared for it and feeling bold she takes advantage of his distraction. Plundering his sweet mouth in a tempting kiss that a promises nothing short of pure satisfaction. Obi-Wan still hasn't responded but his soft moan informs her of his opinion of her skill. If she was in her right mind Padme would want to crawl into a hole and die at the needy little sounds she makes. Briefly his tongue duels with hers making her dig her nails into his tunic. Perhaps that was a mistake as he pulls away looking more than a little stunned.
"Why did you...?" He touches his lips like their burnt rather than swollen. "P--"
"Don't say it, Obi-Wan. I know what you're thinking. That it was improper, that it's hormones, that it's cheating on Anakin. It's not." Hormones might have played a part but she'd be damned if she admitted that. "He's fine with it."
Obi-Wan shook his head as if to clear it. "Are we talking about the same Anakin?! You're a married woman--"
"I'm aware of that ! And no, Anakin won't care!"
C3P0 chose that moment to interrupt, as usual his timing was perfect. "Excuse me Mistress Padme, Master Kenobi. The Chancellor has requested your presence, Mistress Padme. He says it is a matter of great importance."
It likely had to do with the Wen Sown report which was hardly his concern. "Fine."
"You can't just--"
"I will. Stay here and wait for Anakin, we will discuss this when he gets back."
Obi-Wan rubbed his forehead wondering what the hell just happened.

"Be here you should not!"
Wen ignored master Yodas' glower and approached him waving her right hand in the air.
"I have no choice! He'll kill me if he knows I have this!" In her hand was her latest holo, information streamed from the Senate it's self. "Chancellor Palpatine is a Sith!"
