Re: The Sith Slayer 5/?

A/N: Thanks everyone! I think that Palpatine would make Anakin use his brains just so he won't screw up his plans but at the same time this is Anakin. There are some buttons that will be pushed that he can't help but react to. He's also an impulsive hormonal teenager and very smitten. While things kind of go his way it's not quite what he wants. I'm undecided if Obi-Wan will give in or not at some point. Hermione Bagwa is in AOTC she's in the visual book.

Passing out might not have been what Anakin expected in fact he's fairly annoyed that he's missed out on so much. The sight of Obi-Wan however doesn't disappoint in the slightest.

"Good morning, gorgeous."

The endearment is ignored as Obi-Wan lifted the blanket to check on his wound. Anakin knows he had an emergency med kit with the supplies needed to speed up his recovery time. He should be able to move although the effort might tire him out after awhile.

"You're doing better and thankfully the damage wasn't as bad as I feared. Should I call someone? Or take you to a hospital? I think you're going to be woozy for the day. I don't think you have any ration bars and staying here alone would be ill advised." Obi-Wan gave him a sympathetic smile.

"What? You're leaving?" His heart sank every time he thought he was making progress something got in the way.

"I'm afraid I have to meet with the council. Do you have anyone you wish me to contact?"

"No." Anakin stared at the ceiling wondering if he should call Padme. He knew she could come but it wouldn't help keep their relationship a secret if she was seen rushing to his aid.

The Jedi hesitated at the doorway, "You really shouldn't be left alone in your condition. Normally I'd advise bed rest but I have a feeling you won't heed my warning."

That was true, Anakin hated being stuck in the same spot for long durations.

"...I suppose I could check up on you later." It's clear from his tone that Obi-Wan doesn't think that's wise.

"Whatever you think is best." Because his Jedi was too compassionate to leave an injured man unintended.

"I know you're not feeling well but could you try not to lay it on quite so thick, Anakin? I'll be back in a few hours until then rest."

Hours passed with Anakin only moving to hold the Jedi robes left behind idly wondering if he could get it tailored to hold pockets. His armor might have been heavier but it was functional. It smelled nice despite being in the battle fields he could detect minty scent mixed in with the scorched earth and musk. Obi-Wan arrived in a new robe looking like he had washed up since he had last seen him.

"I brought you some food that should be easy to prepare if you intend to stay locked away in your ship the rest of day."

"We could go out to eat." Anakin quickly suggested.

His Jedi gave a long suffering sigh then lifted the blanket to check on the state of his injuries. "Well you've healed up nicely. If you insist I know a place nearby that we could go to then I must be on my way."

On the transport over to Dexs' he might have leaned on Obi-Wan a little too much. Maybe the older man wasn't quite so fond of how clingy Anakin was but as far as he was concerned this was a date. Of course Anakin liked to think of their lightsaber battles as flirting so his opinion might not be exactly accurate. The place wasn't as high end as he was expecting for someone of Obi-Wans' status. A respected member of the council usually dined with the elite in the most expensive restaurants on the planet. He knew Mace Windu and Yoda usually went to those places when discussing things with members of the senate.

Yet there was the great Sith Slayer being warmly embraced by the diner owner Dex. A few regulars greeted the Jedi as he directed Anakin to a booth.

"Friend of yours?" Dex asked as he took out a data pad.

"Yes, he just got back from a war zone and insisted on getting something to eat." The Jedi hit a few options on the data pad before it was placed in front of Anakin.

"And you decided to bring him here? Not the best food for wounded men, nothing bland enough today."

"I like to live dangerously." Anakin answered with a smile.

"Ah, I see why you're friends. I got to man the front, I'll see you later my friend." Patting Obi-Wan on the shoulder Dex walked back to the front.

"Is something wrong, Anakin?"

"What? Of course not, I just didn't think the Negotiator would eat at a diner." He reclined in his seat as he took in how relaxed Obi-Wan looked in this environment. It was a remarkable change from General Kenobi.

"I told you that's just a title. I've been Obi-Wan Kenobi long before I ever reached any kind of fame." Rolling up his sleeves the Jedi frowned as if he was reliving some distant memory. "Most dream of glory when they reach knighthood. Once I became a Knight I suddenly found everyone in the temple looking at me differently. Expecting greater things from me or being suspicious of what I already accomplished. Fame isn't worth the price."

Yes Anakin knew, part of that price was a dead master. But it surprised him to hear that becoming the Sith Slayer hadn't been a good thing within the temple. He would have loved to have his own deeds known and celebrated. Being distrusted for said deeds? It had never entered his head that the Jedi would be anything other than awed by Obi-Wan.

"I swore that I would strive to be the best Jedi I could be but never forget who I am. I learned not to try to live up to other beings standards a long time ago. One must be true to themselves if they hope to succeed otherwise you're truly lost." Obi-Wan offered a tired smile.

Sitting across from his Jedi Anakin couldn't help himself from openingly adorning the man.

"Your food will be up in no time." A blond waitress informed them as she set down their drinks. "Hi Obi-Wan. It's been awhile since I've seen you around here. I was starting to get worried."

"Hello Hermione." A charming smile crossed Obi-Wans' face as he greeted her. "I'm sorry I haven't dropped by more."

"The war does keep generals busy." Anakin added sourly.

The waitress--HERMIONE--was good looking and wearing a form fitting blue diner uniform that could easily double as a club outfit. There was no mistaking her interest in Obi-Wan as she watched him with appreciative eyes.

"We're always happy to see you." She winked.

Much to Anakins' horror Obi-Wans' body language was signaling that he liked the attention. Was she a former bedmate of the Jedi? A current one? A potential lover? His imagination got the better of him and Anakin could visualize the two of them in bed. Obi-Wan saying something witty and the blond silencing him with a kiss. The two of them rutting in bed trying valiantly to be quiet lest they wake her neighbors. Only Obi-Wans' usually repressed passions would be impossible to deny and their animalistic noises couldn't be contained.

Hermione jumped when the voice reader on her belt shorted. Cursing she removed it to get the sparks away before they lit her clothes on fire. There was some commotion as Dex took the thing away to keep it from hurting anyone else. Anakin found Obi-Wan staring at him with a strange look before he followed after Dex.

"Oh honey, you're not going to get very far with him if you keep looking at him like that."

The woman gave a sympathetic smile like Anakin was too naive for his own good.

"Yeah? How far did you get with him?" He snapped back not wanting her pity.

"A bit catty, huh?" She gave him an unimpressed look. "Look Jedi can't get attached, they can get kicked out from the order and Obi-Wan is the best there is. In the end neither of us can really be with him but if you just want to be WITH him you have got to ease off. You're coming off pretty lovesick right now and he won't want to break your heart. Set ground rules to make him comfortable."

"...You really did sleep with him, didn't you?"

Hermione rolled her eyes, "And that's what you got out of our heart to heart? Forget I said anything then."

By the time Obi-Wan returned Hermione was setting the food down. The Jedi gave her a smile which she returned before leaving the men alone. Obi-Wan did not smile at Anakin nor say anything to him as he started to eat.

"Any trouble?" Anakin asked wondering what his problem was.

An eyebrow raised but his companion said nothing making Anakin wonder if he really was that blatant with his emotions.
