Announcement: I have long neglected my modly duties, because I have been both way busier than I thought I would be (the shock of young adulthood amirite?), and y'know just me being a mess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . If anyone is inclined to help me mod, or at least categorize prompts on pinboard, please message swkm-mod @ tumblr. If you don't have a tumblr, still message me but on anon, and we will find another way to communicate. Also, I have received a request for a prompt freeze. Han/Luke, Luke/OC, initial heartbreak, fake relationship-turned-real
(Anonymous) 2016-01-08 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)When Luke arrives on Yavin, he is crushed when he sees that the person has (a) moved on and (b) Biggs was right and they were messing him around all along with no intention of coming to get him, laughing about his naivety behind his back.
Han can see that Luke is feeling desperately let down and embarrassed, and wanders over like, "Are these your friends, baby?", and puts his arm around him, pretending to be his boyfriend to make Luke feel a bit better and rub the other person's nose in it a bit, especially once Luke has saved them all.
But their pretence doesn't really stop, because neither of them know when to stop and both start to wish it was actually happening. Eventually of course they work things out and get together.
TLDR Han pretends to be Luke's boyfriend in order to punish an ex of Luke's who promised they'd return to Tatooine for him. They keep up the pretence, and eventually Han and Luke accept that it's also because they want each other.
[FILL] Part 1
(Anonymous) 2016-01-10 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)Also, please forgive the tense changes. When I write, I write how it feels it should be, and then edit later. I tried to edit the tenses to be consistent, but I was having trouble with it and just wanted to get it posted. I'll fix it when I post it to AO3. Any suggestions on how to edit it would be appreciated! My sister says I should write the first scene in present tense, but I'm not sure. Anyway, here it is!
Luke held Han's face tenderly and knocked their foreheads together with a big goofy grin on his face. He started babbling happily to Han about how he knew he'd come back, but truth be told, he didn't. He hoped he would, but he didn't know
Luke knew that he was touching Han more intimately than friends usually did, but he was too happy to care. Never in his life had he been so happy to be proven right; he was so happy that he could almost kiss Han if they weren't in a room full of people. But then Leia squeezes between him and Han, and suddenly the spell is broken and Luke can hear everything again.
"I knew there was more to you than money," Leia says. She looks certain and she sounds certain, and Luke remembers how she told him that Han had to make his own choices. Leia never told Luke that he was foolish and naive for believing that someone like Han would help; she just calmly told him to let Han decide for himself. Maybe she really did know. Maybe insulting Han was her way of teasing and flirting with him.
Jealousy flooded Luke. Leia's one arm held him close, and he should've been happy because she was beautiful and he'd been hoping to be her hero since he first saw her. But her other arm held Han even closer and she had the same wide goofy grin that Luke had, and she was looking at Han like he was the real hero here. Like he was the person who won the battle, and the Rebellion couldn't possibly have succeeded without him. And that as long as he was with them, there was no question that they would destroy the Empire once and for all.
Luke knew that he was looking at Han like that a moment ago, and he suddenly didn't know who it was he was jealous of.
"Tell me again why I can't leave yet?" Han grumbled. The Rebels really seemed to like making his life miserable. First he had to wait until after they had all their battle plans finished to get his money, and now they were making him wait before he could use it! And to top it all off, everyone was looking at him strangely.
"It takes a little while for everything to settle after a battle, Han," Luke replied. "Plus everything's being set up for the Award Ceremony. Leia want's to get that over with before everyone starts packing."
Luke smiled at Han and it reminded him too much of the way the Rebels were looking at him. Like they worshiped him. Though he could've sworn he saw a hint of fond exasperation in Luke's smile that the others didn't have.
"Don't look at me like that," Han snapped.
Luke's smile morphed into a confused frown. "Don't look at you like what?" he asked.
"Like the Rebels do."
Now Luke looked curious and slightly amused. "How do the Rebels look at you, Han?" the corner of his mouth was twitching as he tried not to grin, and Han wanted to punch him right in that amused face. But Han couldn't hurt Luke. Not after he flew straight into a battle just for him. Han turned away.
"I don't know," he huffed. "Like they're in awe, I guess. I ain't anyone special, but they look at me like they can't believe I actually helped them and they have to be eternally grateful for it. Some of 'em even followed me around asking for my autograph."
Luke laughed heartily. "Han you're a war hero," he said between chuckles. "That's normal; I get that too. It'll stop eventually. It's not like we're legends like Ben apparently was. You should see the look Leia gets on her face when she talks about him."
Luke went back to scanning the crowded room for his friend Wedge, and Han was about to reply when a look of shock passed Luke's face.
"What's wrong, kid?"
"I found Wedge," Luke choked out, "and he's kissing my old girlfriend."
[FILL] Part 2
(Anonymous) 2016-01-11 09:43 am (UTC)(link)Luke had looked like he'd just heard that his last living relative had died. It made Han feel like he did when he almost lost Luke in the trash compactor; like he had to help Luke, but he wasn't sure if he could.
Han scoffed. Here he was getting all sentimental over a kid he barely even knew. Well, he'd be rid of him soon enough. Luke made it clear that he was going to stay with the Rebels. And as for Luke telling Han not to follow him, well, what Luke didn't know couldn't hurt him.
An excited shout snapped Han out of his thoughts, and he looked up to see that the group had noticed Luke approaching. One of the men broke away from the rest and ran towards Luke.
"Luke! I was beginning to think I wouldn't see you until the Ceremony! Come on, let me introduce you to my girlfriend!"
The man, Wedge apparently, tugged a hesitant but unresistant Luke back to the group. He gently grasped the shoulder of a slightly older woman with fiery red hair.
"Luke, this is my eternally shinning star, the love of my life, Mara Jade. Mara this is the way-to-modest-for-his-own-good man of the hour, Luke Skywalker."
Luke gave the woman a tight smile that she returned, but at least she had the grace to look slightly abashed.
"Thanks, Wedge," Luke said. "But Mara and I already know each other. In fact, the last time I saw her, she was my girlfriend. Care to tell me when exactly we broke up, Mara?"
Han stiffened in realization. So, that explained it. The kid didn't even know his old lover was no longer interested in him. Well, Han may as well keep listening in case things got nasty and he had to help out. It wasn't like he had anything else to do, anyway.
Beside Luke, Wedge froze, but Mara just gave a sugar-sweet smile.
"Oh come now, darling," she purred. "That was five years ago. Surely you can't expect a girl to wait that long."
Luke's lips thinned, and Han could tell he was trying very hard to keep his emotions in check.
"You promised me you'd come back once your business finished," he ground out. "Doesn't your word mean anything, Mara?"
Mara gave Luke a long look. "Don't tell me you actually believed that?" she asked. Her eyes widened when Luke remained silent.
"Sweetie, I know Biggs told you I was no good," she admonished. "And he was right. That 'business' of mine was a mission for Darth Vader. I never intended to come back for you. I'm sorry honey, but you were just some fun on the side."
She chuckled slightly and sent a fond look at Wedge, who was looking increasingly uncomfortable, before looking back at Luke, who still hadn't responded.
"You may be the hero for today Luke, but you would never would have been able to change me. Wedge did, and he is my hero." Mara laughed harshly and gave Luke a mocking smile. "You're just too naive."
That was it. Han had had enough. He strolled over to the shell-shocked Luke and casually embraced him from behind.
"Luke! I've been looking all over for you!"
He kissed the back of Luke's head before looking up at the group of people staring at them.
"Are these your friends, Luke? Come on baby, introduce me!"
Sorry if Mara's OOC (and I know she more than likely is!), but I've never actually read anything with her. And I think she's actually supposed to be younger than Luke? I don't know, but she just seems to me like she should be older.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-27 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)Wedge, who had been almost as unresponsive as Luke, suddenly jerked to life like a puppet. "You're dating?" he blurted in disbelief.
"Yup!" Han grinned. "Who would've thought it, huh? A farm-boy and a guy like me."
Han turned his head to rest against Luke's and laughed at the joke only they would get. And then he tried to look dreamy rather than amused. He was supposed to be a lovesick fool, he reminded himself. Not someone helping a friend he didn't even want.
"It's not that," Wedge said. "It just seems strange that you just met each other, and yet you're dating and kissing and..." he awkwardly waved a hand to indicate the way Han embraced Luke. Gently, but tightly. And still leaning his head against him with a dreamy smile on his face.
"Doesn't it seem like you're moving kinda fast?" Wedge finished lamely.
"When did we ever say we just met?" Han asked in surprise. This might not work if Wedge knew much about Luke. Han didn't think this plan through very well.
Well, hey. He did say Luke was supposed to be the brains. Though his plans weren't exactly the greatest either...
Han could still fix this though. He just had to throw Wedge off guard.
"Didn't you hear me on the com-link when I told Luke to hurry up so we could go home?" he asked. Wedge flushed in embarrassment and Han continued. "We've been dating for about... three years now? Four?" How long was long enough to show that Luke hadn't wasted his time pining away for Mara?
Luke finally relaxed into Han's embrace and gently tangled their fingers together. He twisted slightly so he could look at Han with a grateful smile.
"It's been four years," he said softly. Then he tried to scowl. "How could you have forgotten?"
Han smiled widely before trying to make it look sheepish. There he went forgetting his role again. But Luke was willing to go along with the pretense, and that meant Wedge didn't know anything. Now... How would a contrite lover answer Luke's question?

"Ah, come on kid, give me a break! How am I supposed to keep track of time when I'm dating you." Han winked. "Everything's still so exciting that it feels completely new, but it's so hard to imagine a life without you that it feels like it's been forever."
Han froze for a moment as he gazed at Luke. He'd wanted to look like he was trying to flatter Luke until he was forgiven, but everything was happening so fast that he was mostly running on instinct. Instead of saying what he thought a lover would say he'd said what he really thought. Instead of lying to help his friend he'd revealed a truth he hadn't even acknowledged yet. They were barely five minutes into the game and it was already messing with his head.
With a resigned sigh Han stopped trying to control his every action. Maybe this farce would seem more believable if he acted more naturally. The more real it was for him, the more real it would be for his audience, right? He just had to make sure that he didn't get so caught up in the game that he forgot what was real and what wasn't.
Now that Han's body was free to act on its own his expression turned fond but stricken. He squeezed Luke a bit tighter.
"You really changed my life, kid," he chuckled raggedly.
Luke's eyes darted across Han's face in confusion. He sensed the shift in Han's attitude, but he couldn't tell what had changed or why. One moment Han had been playful and cheery, and stubbornly determined to help by using his bumbling improv of a plan. Now he looked like he was staring at the Falcon's corpse.
Had Luke taken his role too seriously? Maybe Han was trying to portray a casual relationship so he could still win over Leia. Oh Force. Leia...
All Luke could do now was continue playing his part. At some point he could stage a 'break up' with Han and they could go back to competing for Leia's affections.
But is it Han you're competing with, or Leia? his subconscious asked.
Luke decided to ignore it.
He lifted his hand to caress Han's face and told himself it was just part of the role. It didn't matter that he'd done this exact same thing a few hours earlier, he told himself firmly. It was just part of the role.
"Well when you put it like that..." Luke allowed a pleased smile to cross his face. Just part of the role. Anyone would be pleased with getting a speech like that from their lover, and Luke was playing his part. It wasn't the smoothness of Han's skin, or the way he unconsciously pushed more firmly into Luke's hand. It was just the role.
"How could I stay mad at you?" Luke finished.
Keep a clear head Luke admonished himself. You almost dragged that out too long. Stick to the role. Pretend it's real, or something.
Luke could feel his smile start to turn wide and goofy like it was right after the battle.
Though if I really was dating you Han, there's no way I could even be mad at you, let alone stay mad, you big altruistic softy. You didn't have to follow me to make sure I was okay, you know. You didn't have to help out and get yourself caught up in this complicated mess. But you can't stand watching someone get hurt unnecessarily can you? You can't stand even knowing about it. That's why you came back for the Rebels. For Leia.
For me.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-09 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)[FILL] Part 5: Han/Luke, Luke/OC, initial heartbreak, fake relationship-turned-real
(Anonymous) 2016-06-26 06:57 am (UTC)(link)"So," Mara chuckled, "you two are dating?"
"Yup!" Han replied gleefully. "You got a problem with that, sister?"
"Oh no, not at all," Mara said flippantly. "If it's true then I'm glad Luke moved on and found someone special. But that's the thing," she grinned at Han. "I don't think it's true."
Luke started to retort and Hand gave him a little squeeze to quiet him. He wanted to hear what Mara had to say so that they knew how to support their story.
"I think you were eavesdropping on our conversation and decided to come 'rescue' Luke like you did during the battle," Mara stared smugly at Han. "Does that sound about right?"
Han narrowed his eyes at Mara while Luke was busy sputtering in the background. How had she found them out so quickly? Wait... 'Mission for Darth Vader' she'd said. Oh kriff, she was one of those 'Force sensitives' wasn't she? They needed to settle this fast.
"Rescue me?" Luke spat indignantly. "Han didn't just 'decide to rescue me', Mara. He saved the entire Rebellion including you, you know. I was the last pilot with any chance of making a hit, and if I'd been shot the entire base would've been destroyed." Luke glared at Mara venomously. "Han saved your life."
Mara seemed taken aback for once, and Han almost thought that would be the end of the matter, but apparently Wedge had decided it was time to support his girlfriend.
"I don't know Luke, I think Mara's got a point," he said. Luke snapped his glare over to Wedge, who visibly cringed as he rushed to explain himself.
"I mean, I know Han saved everyone but I'm pretty sure he just came back for you but that's not the point," he blurted out hurriedly. "If Han really loves you, then why did he leave at all? Since there was a good chance you'd die, he should have stayed with you the entire time." He stared directly into Luke's eyes to show how serious he was.
Han scoffed. "Clearly you don't understand that people have a tendency to be stupid. We had a fight, I left in anger, suddenly realized the gravity of the situation, and rushed by frantically to try and fix things. Alright? Typical lover's fight."
He paused a moment to glare at the group behind Wedge before directing his gaze towards Mara. "I ain't spending my day arguing with you while your friends stare and gossip behind our backs. If you don't believe us that's your choice. Luke, let's go."
Luke looked like he wanted to stay and fight, but Han started tugging him away. At this point, if they stayed any longer they would just seem desperate, which would prove Mara right. They were better off leaving.
"Wait a minute," Mara called out.
Reluctantly Han stopped and turned around. Mara had that sugar-sweet smile on her face again, and Han decided he hated her.
"You don't need to argue with us to be convincing, you know. Just kiss Luke to prove you're comfortable doing that kind of stuff with each other. That's not too hard, is it?"
Luke froze and Mara smirked like she'd just won the toughest game of Sabacc in recorded history.
Han sneered. This was too easy.
"That's so cliche, Mara," he chided. "And some people aren't comfortable with PDA, y'know? Now if you'll excuse us, I think Luke deserves some TLC after the scorching you just gave him." He bared his teeth in a mocking grin. "And it'll be in private."
With that Han started tugging Luke away again, but there was still plenty of turmoil inside his mind.
You told the truth, his subconscious warned. And you're falling in love with him. Don't forget that this is fake.
'Course I told the truth; the more real it is for me the more real it is for them, remember? I know it's fake. And 'sides, I just met the kid. Ain't no such thing as love at first sight.
Yes there is. The Force binds everything together, and it is especially strong in things that are meant to be.
Or in people who are meant to be in love.
Gimme a break! I said I don't believe in that Force mumbo-jumbo, so cut it out. This is my mind. I don't need a subconscious that sounds like crazy Kenobi.
But you told the truth and you do care about the boy.
You've already lost the game.
