Announcement: I have long neglected my modly duties, because I have been both way busier than I thought I would be (the shock of young adulthood amirite?), and y'know just me being a mess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . Honestly, I intended for this to be a serious fic. And then … well … it got less serious. And then the bunny abandoned me. I’m hoping the bunny’ll come back and I can make a proper serious fill but for now all I have is this ridiculousness.

Fault and Blame (are not Qui-gon's)

The missing prince’s name is ‘Ben Kenobi’. In hindsight, Qui-gon really should have seen the connection.

In his defense, they’d met when he was half-drunk from the ‘mandatory’ celebration his mission-colleagues had insisted on in the aftermath of a negotiation well-done. So when the - stunningly lovely - young man had said his name was ‘Obi-wan Kenobi’ and ‘Kenobi’ was rather common as a surname in those parts ... well, Qui-gon can’t be blamed for not making the connection.

He might be able to be blamed for kissing the young man at the midnight bell and he might be blamed for following where the young man lead - up to a rented bed and a delightful night - but he cannot be blamed for not making the connection to the missing prince nor can he be blamed for the Force deciding they needed to be life-bonded.

It’s not his fault that his reaction was “That’s new” as he looked at his supposedly one-night lover and felt the bond wiggle with glee.

It’s not his fault that Obi-wan’s reaction was “Well, alright than” and a request to catch a ride back to the Temple with him. “We’re Jedi-married, right? Might as well make it official.”

Okay, it might be his fault that they left two days late because the bond wouldn’t let them leave the bed. Not that they tried very hard...

But really, half the situation is not his fault and he can’t be blamed for, so Mace should have stopped yelling twenty minutes ago.

It may be short, but I love it! Just the right mix of hilarious and characters being their so-done-selves :D
