So, for some unknown reason Qui-Gon comes back to life during the Clone wars. He and Anakin hit it off, and Anakin is very pleased to have someone to trust and confide in and slowly lets more and more details of his life and thoughts and choices slip by.

Qui-Gon listens, and a first is very in Anakin's corner, but then he starts to hear what's left unspoken, what's implied and is NOT.AMUSED.
Cue Qui-Gon calling the chosen one out on his arrogance and his BS, and telling him where his choices will likely get him.

Qui-Gon might be a rebel, but he's not an idiot. Fuck that shit.

TPM!Qui-Gon is all serene and paternal but Qui-Gon the Jedi Master everywhere else is a raging mountain of blunt judgement and exacting demands. There's a reason Obi-Wan spends the entirety of TPM saying 'Yes, Master', 'No, Master' and 'Three bags full, Master'.

So hardass Qui-Gon who is still very much a Jedi? Will not be the kindly father figure Anakin wants.
