Obi-Wan Kenobi: Jedi, Negotiator, War Hero...Father? 1/?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-22 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
It was first noticed by friends of the Senator, a change in her demeanor, a glow to her skin, a roundness to her face. Those close to her didn't say anything to anyone outside their group. Trust was key and they didn't want idle gossip to turn into an outright scandal. Others noticed slight changes as well although no one could confirm or deny anything. If the former queen of Naboo was indeed with child she was careful about concealing the evidence.

There were rumors of the fathers' identity among her detractors. Most were as vile as they were absurd and nothing to repeat in polite company. One was so ridiculous even the man that attempted to start a smear campaign admitted Senator Amidala had more sense than having a torrid affair with a Senator Binks. The topic was one of great debates before the holonet provided a possible solution. Wen Sown was the one who broke the story but prior to her big break she was trying to discover the likely candidate. Senator Organa was briefly considered but he his character had long been established. While he was like minded the man was a devoted husband and gave Amidala the same regard as his other colleagues.

Humans were a more emotional species and Wen suspected the scandal was a rather juicy one. And was was more juicy than forbidden fruit? Padme Amidala had quite a few entanglements with Jedi, two in particular. One of which was quite involved in her circle of friends. Tracking back the Senators' history further she was pleased to learn that when she was Queen Amidala first encountered the pair. Anakin Skywalker "the man without fear" and Obi-Wan Kenobi "the Negotiator." Heroes of the Clone Wars but back then? Skywalker was a boy of nine and Kenobi was a Padawan. Yes, Wen could see the queen being taken with the young man then meeting again ten years later to have him finally return her feelings. It was so romantic! While not human herself Wen could admit Kenobi was quite dashing, many viewers thought so as well.

There was no way she could prove the affair besides her reporter instincts but she could test the waters. It had take some time but Wen was quite satisfied with the answers she received when she conducted her interviews. While her bosses weren't impressed with her "unfounded slanderous pile of bile" Wen still managed to get a spot. It had been glorious to edit and she hoped others saw the star crossed lovers in a new light.

"Wen Sown reporting the latest of hot rumors. Many have noticed a change in Senator Amidala in the passing months. Her clothing isn't quite as form fitting, her face is a bit chubby and her private life has remained one of the few secrets not yet unearth. Well what if Senator Padme Amidala is in fact...pregnant? The timing of her wardrobe change seems to fit but who's the father?"

The image change to Wen sitting down with the wars' poster boy Jedi Anakin Skywalker. "You've known the Senator for awhile, Knight Skywalker. She seems awful close to the Jedi. Do you think it's possible she was secretly in a relationship with one?"

"W-What? ...N-no, no. That's ridiculous, I mean Jedi aren't permitted to form attachments." The Jedi laughed nervously.

"So you think she would just have an affair?' Wen pressed.

"NO! I mean no I don't." Skywalker fumbled. "Look you have it all wrong! This is just another smear campaign and I won't be apart of it!"

As his form faded out Wen came into view again. "A strange reaction from a Jedi, no? Aren't Jedi supposed to be better composed? Perhaps Skywalker would be if the truth wasn't nearly unearthed.

"How would you describe Senator Amidala, Master Kenobi?"

The legandary Jedi came into view looking far more composed than Skywalker. "Very focused, kind, rather selfless and very brave."

"That sounds an awfully lot like the qualities of a Jedi." Wen supplied.

"I suppose so."

"Would you say she's driven? That she won't back down until she gets what she wants?"

Kenobi considered the questions. "Yes, quite driven. Her persistence is incredible, I'd wager she'd be able to talk anyone into just about anything."

"I'll bet." The knowing glint her eyes and suggestive tone sealed her meaning. "I must say it's mighty impressive for such high praise to be given to a Senator by the Jedi with the best record for setting disputes. Do you think your skills are better than hers?"

He frowned for a moment before shaking his head. "It's not a competition, it's the end result that matters."

Wen smirked at the camera then cut to Senator Amidala.

"Master Kenobi and you share a great many beliefs. When I asked him about his opinion of you what he said was very complementary." Amidala beamed obviously pleased to hear such praise. "It seems you two are quite like minded on a great deal of things. What are some qualities you think he possesses?"

"Dedication. He's so committed to everything he does both physically and mentally. It's honestly quite exhausting trying to keep up with a Jedi."

This time Wen looked at the camera to make sure nothing was being censored.

"Really? Is he flexible? Able to balance everything just right?" Her tone was causal as if she didn't want to giggle madly like a schoolgirl.

"Of course. Obi-Wan always knows how to handle everything. He's very hands on and very knowable. I try to hold my own when I'm with him but I do feel secure when he's in control."

The footage ended and Wen gave a bright smile to the audience. "Could Obi-Wan Kenobi who we know as a Jedi, Negotiator and War Hero...be a father?"

That was a fast response omg... and a quality fill so far! Padme, your last line is killing me. PR nightmare incoming.

Is Wen an OC? I love her so far.

Thanks! I had worried that the humor wouldn't be that great. I liked the prompt so I felt I had to fill it. A PR nightmare for sure. I think Padme is usually more careful but the fact this is Obi-Wan threw her off. She's more careful about not letting anyone know about her marriage.

Yes she is. I just mixed up News Now to make Wen Sown. She's a romantic that just buys into her own stories.

Padme felt like she was going to be ill when she first saw the program. One of her political rivals, Eohs Asl, sent her a toy lightsaber an hour after the broadcast with a note saying, "I'm sure you know how to handle a lightsaber." Her baby kicked wildly when she screamed into her pillow. Anakin and Obi-Wan were due back soon, as usual there would be reporters surrounding them. Those reporters would be the first people to tell them about the rumor. She could laugh off the slander against her in public but what would they say? Would the Jedi dig into their personal lives?

How would Anakin react? What about Obi-Wan? It was bad enough that their lives had a spotlight on it and had hit so close to the mark. But to dragging Obi-Wan into it? He had become a dear friend to her and it sickened her to see his good name ruined. She hadn't suspected Wen Sown to take such a leap, when it came to Obi-Wan usually his heroics were discussed. Padme had only been too pleased to praise the man now her words were taken out of context. Like she was some harlot in heat that was vocal about his sexual prowess. A long groan forced it's way out of her throat at the memory. "Hands on" and "in control" she sounded like a submissive sleazy holo tart.

For the next few hours Padme tried to come up with a plan as this made her situation more troublesome. There wasn't much she could do to cover up her pregnancy since she was due shortly. She would have to brave the worst of it and hope the men in her life would be sensible about it. More so Anakin but she did worry how Obi-Wan would take the tarnish to his spotless image. Her handmaidens were dealing with the many messages she was receiving only allowing her to see those her friends had sent. Bail was promised to help however he could and had already sent out statements in her defense. Jar Jar had sent a holo that was...an attempt at comforting her.

"Mesa sorry yousa stuck in dis scandal. Heard I be daddy. Funny right? Obi be good papa if true."

C3P0 was currently turned off as his frantic comments only serviced to aggravate her further. She didn't want to even know what holos he watched that included pregnancy tests and flinging furniture.

----

Having saved the Chancellor Anakin wasn't surprised when they were greeted by reporters. Obi-Wan didn't care to deal with them so Anakin stepped forward to explain what had happened. He had expected praise or questions about the rescue. He hadn't counted on hearing news regarding his wife.

"What do you think of Senator Amidalas' pregnancy?"

Anakin blinked and felt his knees go wobbly. "Pr-pregnancy? She's...pregnant?"

His voice had sounded weak and a bit high pitched.

"Yes, Wen Sown reported on rumors of the senators' pregnancy and secret affair with a Jedi. Supposedly she's pretty far along."

He remembered half of that, Sown had one of her co-workers patch her in for an interview. Had she mentioned a pregnancy? He had been too shocked by almost being discovered to recall. Try as he might Anakin knew he was failing to keep up appearances, he felt like his world was coming apart at the seams. Forcing a smile he tried to act cocky.

"Really? Who's the father, master Yoda?" If he was in a good mood master Yoda would find it funny if not his kneecaps might be attacked later on.

"Master Kenobi."

Was this all just another attempt to make Padme look bad and do the same to a respected Jedi? Anakin knew Obi-Wan wasn't having an affair with his wife. Even at his worst fit of jealousy Anakin knew simple math. "Pretty far along" wouldn't be accurate as they had been out on missions together for several months. Obi-Wan had returned for a sort visit to the council three months ago but the timescale wouldn't match. If Padme was even with child in the first place.

"If you say so, I wouldn't believe everything you hear on the holos." Spotting his wife Anakin made his excuses and ran off to meet her in the shadows. "Are you...?"

"Yes. Ani, this is a mess. What are we going to do?"

He didn't know but he had to find Obi-Wan before he heard this garbage.

-----

Master Yoda wasn't pleased with the reports and made his displeasure known whenever the topic was dared mentioned. Made Windu had stopped trying to bring it up as it was clear Yoda wouldn't allow the subject to be talked about until he spoke with Obi-Wan. The diminutive Jedi didn't believe the rumor, at least not the part connected with Obi-Wan. It angered him to see the man treated so disrespectful.

"Find Obi-Wan. Speak of this you will not. Tell him I will."

Not willing to argue Mace left and Yoda waited for his first guest to arrive. He didn't have to wait long as Wen Sown showed up with her flying cameras. Snorting at the sight he made a dismissive motion with his left hand flinging them out of the room before closing the door.

"You didn't say you wanted to speak off the record." Wen pouted.

"Never said we would be on ! Ruin two lives you have ! Retract you will !"

"The Jedi code is ruining two live ! Three if you consider the baby !" She clutched her heart thinking of the horrors of the Senator raising that child without her love. "What would you have me retract? Their admiration for each other? Their love? Obi-Wans' stamina?"

"Not mention Obi-Wans' stamina you will."

Wen scratched her head. "Uh, does that mean you want me to mention it or not?"

"Retract it all!" Yoda clarified.

"No! I'll make it my mission to make sure this family sticks together no matter what the council says!" She ignored his withering look and walked out without another word. Wen Sown would make the whole Repubic know how unfair it was to keep their Jedi from being with those they loved.

"Obi-Wan, what happened? The holo news is going crazy lately." Dofed Oirgn asked as he chased after the Jedi master.

The rescue of the Chancellor was Anakins' victory, at most Obi-Wan supposed it was a team effort. He had never cared for the limelight anyway. "It's to be expected I didn't think anyone would ignore the spectacle we made. Even if they were blind I think the noise alone would clue everyone in."

Dofed gaped not sure what to say to that. His friend shrugged because in truth it was just a normal day occurrence for a Jedi. Surely Dofed had dealt with such high risk missions as well. Rotating his shoulders Obi-Wan rubbed at his back. Noticing the movement his comrade asked if he was alright.

"Just a little sore, I was on my back for awhile. You would think getting choked would leave a more lasting impression." Perhaps all the jumping around had made the strain greater. Escaping a burning ship alive tended to work ones muscles.

"...I suppose you had uh, quite the work out."

"I'll be fine. I've had worse aches in the past. Like H'sk when I was tied up for awhile. For some reason rope burns have always feel worse than cuffs. Anyway we all do our part but I've never been in favor of being idle or passive when I could be handling things one on one." He smiled when he thought about how far Anakin and him had come as a team. "Having a partner that knows you so well has been a blessing. We know how to anticipate each other in ways I didn't think was possible a few years ago. There's no one else I'd rather have at my back."

Obi-Wan frowned at his friend who's face was so red he looked like it was about to burst into flames.

"Is something wrong?"

"Sorry Obi-Wan, I'm just not used to you being so...forthcoming."

Had he been that bad at expressing his pride in Anakins' accomplishments? The idea upset him, perhaps he'd make his feelings more apparent with others to let Anakin know how much he was appreciated.

"Are you going to see Senator Amidala soon?"

"If she wishes to see me, I would feel rather rude coming with out her say." As far as he knew he had no business to discuss with Padme. "I dare say it's the same way with her, although she seems a bit more reluctant. She rather meet on her terms in more informal settings. Ever since we became better acquainted we've been known to go on for hours. It leaves one feeling rather parched. I supposed the Jedi temple doesn't provide the same comforts."

"...Uh...yes. If you don't mind me asking, what do intend to do about the...little one?"

He had no idea who the "little one" was, Anakin wasn't a child and in fact towered over Obi-Wan. "Pardon?"

"I'm sorry I'm overstepping my bounds. I was just curious what the three of you will do." Dofed was half human and around Qui-Gons' age although Obi-Wan was never sure how old he'd be considered given his alien genetics. Maybe he still saw Anakin as a boy.

"Do?"

Wringing his hands Dofed gave a helpless shrug. "Will the little one have a place in your life?"

"Of course, always. He'll always be a part of my life." Was there ever any doubt? Obi-Wan couldn't imagine his life without Anakin, he didn't want to. When the young man was still his Padawan he used to worry they would drift apart given the boys' teenage mood swings. Now they were a team, the best in the order and had a friendship he wouldn't trade for anything.

"You know the sex is male?"

Obi-Wan stared at him for a long moment wondering if Anakin looked feminine to his colleagues' eyes. Some races changed sex but shouldn't Dofed know humans didn't? It would be best not to insult him and simply answer his injuries. "I've known for awhile."

It might have been the lack of facial hair that threw the other Jedi off. Obi-Wan had been mistaken for female before he grew a beard by one than one alien culture. Just when he was about ready to ask for clarification Anakin rushed in. He clutched his side and gasped for breath.

"I...need... to speak with you..."

"Anakin, did you run here?" He wondered if his former Padawan remembered they had communication devices.

"Obi-Wan, master Yoda wishes to speak to you immediately." Mace Windu gestured towards the council.

"I think we should...talk first..."Anakin said ignoring the glare Mace was giving him.

"It can wait, Skywalker. This is an urgent Jedi matter that requires Master Kenobi."

Wanting to break the tension between the two of them Obi-Wan cleared his throat. "By all means lead the way."

Dofed had left the three of them but Anakin still followed the two council members despite the lack of invitation. Entering the Jedi council chambers Obi-Wan was surprised to see no one except Yoda was seated.

"I thought this was an important Jedi matter? Where's the rest of the council?"

"Discuss this in private I wish. Leave us Master Windu." When Mace motioned for Anakin to follow Yoda jabbed his cane into the floor. "No, Skywalker stays. Will hear his thoughts I will."

Obi-Wan took his own seat, he respected Master Yoda but he was also a member of the council. Standing in the center of the room didn't feel right if they were on equal footing. Not wanting to be awkwardly standing in the middle of the room and not feeling bold enough to take a seat Anakin fidgeted by Obi-Wans' seat. The behavior drew an amused smile from Obi-Wan, his eyes twinkled and his friend couldn't help grinning in return.

"Senator Amidala. Much talk of her of late. How well do you know her, Obi-Wan?" While still looking rather stern Yodas' eyes had soften as he regarded the pair and their obvious fondness for each other.

"Fairly well. Ever since we were brought together again thanks to the attempts on her life. We've discussed diplomatic matters and gone on some missions together as ambassadors." Padme and him tended to agree on many political aspects, things Anakin didn't see eye to eye on.

"More than allies, friends yes?" Green ears perked up as Yoda waited for the answer.

"Yes. I'm...I'm not sure what you're asking, Master Yoda. If it's what her intentions are I've always thought she wanted what was best for the people of the Republic. If it's what she's like as a person she's one of the most decent beings I've met. Something I don't say lightly." Besides him Anakin rocked on his toes and he felt the warmth his friend felt at his words.

"Troubling reports on the Senator and you." With a flick of his hand Yoda stared the holo news report Wen Sown had done.

Obi-Wan and Anakin watched it not daring to look at each other. Anakin did squirm during his interview then made little sounds during Obi-Wan and Padmes' sections. When it was over no one spoke for a full minute. Yoda waited patiently as Obi-Wan buried his face in his hands and Anakin restlessly paced. It was Obi-Wan that finally broke the stalemate when he stood up.

"If you excuse me I think I need some time to digest this." His voice was calm and his face was blank. Whatever emotions he had were carefully shielded.

"Go you may. Return when collected thoughts you should."

Obi-Wan left the room without giving Anakin a backwards glance.

Poor Obi-Wan, he walked into each and every one of those! And Yoda, so calm, someone's got to have the Negotiotors back... wonder if he'll play matchmaker?

Thank you!

A/N: Nope, Yoda is definitely not trying to play matchmaker. He doesn't like the idea of Obi-Wan being slandered and knows it's all BS.

"Speak with you I would." Rising from his seat Yoda shot a disapproving look at Anakin. "Pry into personal matters, I do not. Approve of affairs I do not. Know Obi-Wans' character I do, resisted such temptation he has. Not in him to lie or hide who he is."

The way Yodas' eyes careful met his all but confirmed the Jedi masters' pointed statement was meant to convey another message.

"Know the truth? Hmph. Long has Obi-Wan cared for you since you were a boy. Defended you he has, fought with you and trust you above all others. Repay him with falsehoods you have. His sacrifices mean nothing to you? Old I may be, dim I am not."

Anakin paled. "W-What do you mean?"

"Knew I did that this day would come. As always Obi-Wan pays the price for your actions." Yoda jabbed his cane into Anakins' stomach. "Martyr himself for the Senator and you Obi-Wan would. I fear you will let him."

"...Why didn't you say anything before now?"

Yoda shook his head looking worn and tired. "A mistake. Suspect the truth but turn a blind eye. It...seemed insignificant next to the war. A friend asked me to judge not."

"Who? Obi-Wan?"

"No." Without answering Anakins' first question Yoda left the young Jedi with his thoughts.

----

Wen was pleased with her rise to fame, her report had spread throughout the Republic and thousands of worlds were supporting the right for a Jedi to marry. She had a few tricks up her sleeves that were bound to get some unsolicited opinions. Years ago her father had been one of the tech supporters for the cameras in the senate. Despite the upgrades not much had change with the systems and Wen knew how to hack them without alerting anyone.

Who knew, if her plans went well Padme Amidala from Naboo and Obi-Wan Kenobi could be wed before the birth of their first child!
-----

Hours had passed without a word from Obi-Wan. Anakin had returned to his wife to consider their options and discuss their plan of action. Both were surprised when C3P0 came in to announce Obi-Wan Kenobi was at the door. Sharing a look of apprehension the couple waited for him to enter. The Jedi had a stern look on his face as he regarded the couple. Unable to stand the silence anymore Anakin tried to explain their situation.

"Padme and I are married. We've been together since that day in the arena."

Obi-Wan rolled his eyes. "Yes, I figured as much. Maybe not the marriage but the rest."

"How?!"

"I'm not an idiot, Anakin ! I'm the one being in this universe that's spent the most time with you, I'd think I know you by now !" Running his hand through his hair Obi-Wan sighed long and heartfelt.

"Why didn't you say anything?!" Anakin bellowed.

"Because I wanted you to be happy !" Exasperation turned into sorrow as Obi-Wan glanced back at his former Padawan. "I know how it feels when you can't be with someone you love. You lost so much already, I couldn't take away something else that matter to you. I couldn't make you chose between Padme or the Jedi."

For the first time since he met Obi-Wan Kenobi it occurred to Anakin that he had missed a very important detail about the man. Anakin had always assumed he alone cared too much and carried attachments to all those he held dear. Only now did he know that Obi-Wan had attachments too, he simply dealt with it differently. "I'm sorry, master. For everything."

Without prompting Anakin hugged Obi-Wan feeling a swell of emotion for the man. Perhaps the Jedi master wished to stay annoyed and realized he couldn't as he sighed again.

"I don't want to ruin this moment but we do have to discuss other things." Padme gently reminded them.

"Ah yes, my upcoming fatherhood. It seems that you are no longer the only immaculate conception, Anakin." The sarcasm was rich in Obi-Wans' accented voice before softening when he addressed Padme. "May I see?"

"Yes." Removing her robe Padme revealed the swell of belly. "I'm a little surprised you believed Sowns' report about this."

"...I did sense the baby when I returned three months ago." Obi-Wan admitted. "It wasn't my place to say anything." He added in case Anakin got upset.

His hand almost touched the belly before he retracted it with an apology. Padme smiled and placed his palm near on top just under the beading of her gown. The baby kicked against his hand as soon as he made contact. A smile grew on his face as he felt the tiny mind reach out to him. It felt male but he didn't dare say anything in case he was wrong. Sending a wave of affection to the little one Obi-Wan felt Anakins' hand cover his. There was no spark of jealousy in his eyes that the child had reached for him. Within Padme there was a spark of something else that Obi-Wan dismissed. They had important things to discuss after all.

"What are your plans? You can't continue to hide your relationship, not with a child on the way. Between the senate and Jedi order neither of you would have time for the baby."

"We did talk about going to Naboo but we didn't plan for anything else." Padme admitted.

"Then we have a long night ahead of us." Obi-Wan took off his robe then handed Anakin a stuffed wookie doll and force sensitive baby toy. "I didn't know what to get but congratulations nonetheless."

The second hug was tighter than the first making the wookie squeak. Padme watched the two men embracing and for the first time since she married Anakin felt utterly relaxed. Somehow she had always known Obi-Wan would be on their side and they could trust him with anything. Anakin pulled back to whisper his thanks to his mentor making it look like they were mere inches away...nearly kissing. Her perspective made it seem more intimate than it was, she knew that, but the sudden arousal at the idea was impossible to ignore. She could blame it on the hormones but Padme knew they'd be beautiful together. Anakin and Obi-Wan were already so perfect in the field known for being so in tune with each other.

Was it really so strange to imagine it when Obi-Wan had agreed to help them? The three of them making love into the morning hours and planning a life together? Heat rushed to her face as she recalled the way the man moved. She had harbored a crush on him when she was a queen and ignored it the best she could. After she had married Anakin there had been an effort to know Obi-Wan better. Padme had reasoned they were pretty much family and was ecstatic when they became close friends. Another kick shattered her fantasy because she was heavily pregnant. Would that really attract a man like Obi-Wan into their bed?

Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi: Jedi, Negotiator, War Hero...Father? 5/?

Padme had insisted Obi-Wan stay with the couple at the apartment instead of traveling back to the Jedi temple. Too tired to disagree he had taken the guest room absently noting the rich decoration that made the room look so inviting. As he felt himself slipping unconscious the bed dipped and he sensed Anakins' familiar presence. It was a habit when he was a Padawan to slip into his masters' bed for comfort. Anakin hadn't done it in years, tucking himself in close to share warmth. Hours passed before Obi-Wan woke and he struggled to remain asleep.

He hadn't had such a good night in ages and decided he could afford the luxury of being lazy for once. Turning his head he pressed into a loose embrace finding himself returning it. A light muffled laugh alerted him to Anakins' presence...on the other side of the bed. Blinking his eyes open Obi-Wan realized he was waking in a somewhat compromising position with Anakins' wife. Padme smiled at his startled expression and he felt his face heat up when he noticed how close he was to her cleavage.

"I feel like I missed something."

"Sorry for the confusion Obi-Wan. I sleep best when Anakin is near and didn't want to wake either of you." Sitting up she kissed his cheek before pecking Anakin on the lips. The whole thing struck Obi-Wan as oddly natural and domestic despite the pretense of formality they had before Wen Sowns' false report.

The couple wouldn't have let him see them kiss if they could help it. Now that everything was out in the open it was surreal. More so that Obi-Wan was a part of it, that he was allowed to witness it. He was fairly impressed that Anakin didn't seem the least bit possessive of Padme sleeping next to another man.

"Hmm. It's nice to see you find this so amusing." He gave Anakin a half hearted scowl.

"I always enjoy seeing you surprised, master. You have to admit," his voice came out a little husky," it was hardly unpleasant."

Obi-Wan cocked his head to the side not sure what Anakin was implying. Yes Padme was an attractive woman but he wasn't certain Anakin wanted to hear that from another man. Was he just teasing or musing outloud that he was lucky to have such a wife?

"Oh, if Wen Sown could see this now." Padme snickered. "Senator Amidala in bed with two Jedi war heroes."

"Huh. You'd think there would be a holo like that." Anakin mused. His long legs stretched across the bed trapping Obi-Wan as Padme sat on the other side brushing her hair.

"I'd wager their already in the planning stages." Obi-Wan retorted. On impulse he moved Anakins' legs with the force sending the young man tumbling off.

"I can't believe you did that!"

"I know when your trying to annoy me, Anakin. Can you blame me for wanting to return the favor?" The playfulness in his voice drew a fond smile from Anakin.

"If you two are done I'll order breakfast for the four of us." Holding her belly Padme walked out of the room humming a happy tune.

"She seems to be in better spirits." Stroking his beard Obi-Wan turned to find Anakin watching him.

"You're making a big difference in our lives." Reaching up Anakin brushed Obi-Wans' hair to the side.

The tender gesture caught the Jedi master off guard. In the past the young man had done such things though they had become rarely as he grew older. Something about the act felt different although Obi-Wan wasn't sure why. The closeness didn't bother him, over the years they had constantly been in each others' space. Yet Obi-Wan couldn't help feeling on edge with Anakin beside him. Almost as if he could sense a change in the other man and wasn't certain how to act to it.

"This is an important stage of your life. I'm happy to be a part of it although I wish I could have been included sooner." If he had been trusted to know the truth instead of lied to.

"I'm sorry. I never wanted to hurt you, nothing means more to me than Padme, the baby and you."

Anakin tilted Obi-Wans' chin up and that strange sense came back. He couldn't read Anakins' expression, fear kept him from reaching out with his the force to discover what was wrong.

"Anakin? What...?"

"I didn't realize...I misjudged you for so long. I don't know if I can make up for that but I'll try." His thumb caressed Obi-Wans' cheek.

"I always wanted what was best for you and I'm sorry if that wasn't always apparent. There's nothing to be sorry for, you've never let me down."

The intense focus in Anakins' eyes was unnerving, he looked like he just discovered some great truth to the universe. Like Obi-Wan was the answer all along right in front of him. "We're a family. I get that now, we belong together."

"What are you--?"

A sharp intake of breath shattered the moment breaking whatever strange spell had been cast on the younger Jedi. Padme stood in the doorway announcing breakfast was being prepared. Excusing himself Obi-Wan went to the refresher to make himself more presentable.
----

"Ani?"

Joining her at the doorway Anakin took Padmes' hand to led her down to their bathroom. They didn't speak until they were half undressed and her handmaidens were all busy preparing the meal.

"Do you want him in our bed?"

In the middle of putting on his boots Anakin froze, a look of fear passed over his handsome features before he turned away.

"Padme..."

"You don't have to be ashamed if you do. I think I'd be upset if it was anyone else. This...feels right." The way she felt when Obi-Wan held her...seeing them so close with Anakin looking so aroused...

"I can't help it. I feel like an idoit for not realizing it before. I...I think I've always been in love with him." He scowled at his boots. "I just thought it was hero worship or assumed I only loved you and it wasn't possible to want anyone else. I never imagined he'd be willing to do so much for us and...being in bed? I enjoyed us all being together, I liked seeing him hold you. I want..."

His face flushed in embarrassment and Padme felt herself warm just thinking about what she wanted to do with Obi-Wan Kenobi.

"It's not just...lust,"he whispered the word as if he couldn't bear saying it,"I love him. Having Obi-Wan with us does feel right."

"I want this too, Ani. When I was queen I had a bit of a crush on him. I thought it was silly but now it makes sense. The three of us make sense together. "

Anakin shook his head looking pained. To Padmes' horror he was crying.

"It won't happen. Obi-Wan doesn't feel the same and even if he did he'd chose the Jedi over us. It's his whole life. I'm not even sure we should ask him to chose."

"Maybe we should leave that up to him. Honestly? If it would happen at all I think I'd just get in the way." The incredulous look he gave her made Padme smile sadly. "Look at you and look at me. Who do you think is more desirable?"

"You're a goddess. He'd have to be a fool not to think so." Anakin responded confidently. "Obi-Wan is one of the wisest Jedi in the order, of course he sees it too."

The chime alerted them to breakfast being ready making the pair rush to get ready. Though neither said it out loud they silently agreed Obi-Wan was theirs.

Awww, pregnant Padme is so adorable! Since so few people know about the pregnancy she probably doesn't get enough people telling her she's glowing and gorgeous. I bet to a Force sensitive she looks like a supernova and Anakin just wants to worship his fertility goddess of a wife. Obi-Wan better get the socks knocked off him.

"--I thought it was an amusing term." Padme finished with a laugh.

Anakin averted his eyes when Obi-Wan quirked an eyebrow. "Anakin did you really use one of my phrases as a pick up line?"

"No. I didn't mean to and I did have to explain that it meant negotiations with a lightsaber."

Shaking his head Obi-Wan couldn't stop himself from smiling. It was good to have them all being honest with each other. Liberating to finally leave the pretenses behind them. A selfish part of him was delighted to be allowed to be part of their lives.

"Your handmaidens did an excellent job with breakfast." Scanning the room he noticed their absence for the first time.

"They always do." Wiping her mouth Padme looked away from him to gather her strength. After all those years Obi-Wans' smile still left her feeling weak in the knees. "I sent them away so we could continue planning without distraction."

A jealous part of her was glad to have them gone just because they noticed how attractive "Master Kenobi" was. Sometimes Padme felt like a tick ready to pop and the last thing she needed was to see her friends eyes dart over the Jedi master. His friendly nature had already had him on good terms with them. She had been surprised when she heard him inquiring about a sick relative. While Padme would have sent them off regardless she didn't have the patience for dealing with any potential flirting.

"I don't think Master Yoda will be as open as you're hoping." Anakin murmured. His fork jabbed into a stab of meat holding it in place as he slashed it into smaller pieces. "He always advises me against attachments and to let go of them."

"If the council isn't willing to make reforms what would you wish to do?" Being a Jedi was a dream of Anakins' and Obi-Wan wondered if he was prepared to give it up for his family.

"I don't want to give up either."

"Anakin..."

"I won't lose my family!" The younger Jedi responded hotly then more softly: "I won't give up you either."

Struck speechless Obi-Wan watched Anakin as he stalked out muttering promises to return once he cooled down. It was good to see his former Padawan was still taking his suggestions on attaining a cool head. To his side Padme stood sighing to herself when she walked.

"I feel utterly ridiculous waddling like this. Most of the time my outfits help create the illusion that I'm striding along like normal." Her face was flushed from a combination of embarrassment and arousal. It had to be the hormones making her so emotionally charged. Seeing Obi-Wan sitting so regally and as handsome as ever only brought more of her insecurities to the surface. If he was a sleek Bonmore Lion she was a Vont'coo slug.

"Pregnancy suits you." He remarked warmly making her stop completely to see if she misheard him.

"I have no need for empty flattery." The former queen informed haughtily.

"I never give it, Senator. Especially not to politicians." That spark of amusement she adored lit his eyes as he chuckled. "You look gorgeous Padme, truly. I'm not sure if you intend to but you seem more fierce when in the senate. Your eyes have a brightness to them."

"I'm sure this," she gestured to her very large belly, "is highly desirable."

"Plenty of men feel empowered to know their lover is carrying their child. I'm sure Anakin feels the same."

A pout formed before she could help it, he thought she was worried how Anakin saw her. Having a husband like Anakin left very little doubt that he loved her for her even if she was...round. No, Padme was worried how Obi-Wan saw her. Being considered nurturing and motherly wasn't what she wanted to hear. "Perhaps but I'm asking how you honestly see me. Ignoring how Jedi regard motherhood do I look disgusting to you ?"

The bluntness of her statement startled him, "What--? Of course not."

Padme sighed because there was no way to ask if he saw her as desirable without losing her dignity. The Jedi master saw her as another life form pure and simple. Were there any men that saw pregnant women on the street and wanted them? "Nevermind."

"Padme...," his hand cupped her cheek,"you've always been a very beautiful woman. Nothing has changed that. "

The soft kiss on her cheek wasn't anything new, he usually greeted her that way when he visited her. Anakin had once said it was how Obi-Wan only greeted his closest female friends. Even so her skin warmed at the contact, glancing up was a mistake because it's easy to get lost in his eyes. Closing the gap between them Padme initiates the kiss feeling a spark of pure want when their lips make contact. He's not prepared for it and feeling bold she takes advantage of his distraction. Plundering his sweet mouth in a tempting kiss that a promises nothing short of pure satisfaction. Obi-Wan still hasn't responded but his soft moan informs her of his opinion of her skill. If she was in her right mind Padme would want to crawl into a hole and die at the needy little sounds she makes. Briefly his tongue duels with hers making her dig her nails into his tunic. Perhaps that was a mistake as he pulls away looking more than a little stunned.

"Why did you...?" He touches his lips like their burnt rather than swollen. "P--"

"Don't say it, Obi-Wan. I know what you're thinking. That it was improper, that it's hormones, that it's cheating on Anakin. It's not." Hormones might have played a part but she'd be damned if she admitted that. "He's fine with it."

Obi-Wan shook his head as if to clear it. "Are we talking about the same Anakin?! You're a married woman--"

"I'm aware of that ! And no, Anakin won't care!"

C3P0 chose that moment to interrupt, as usual his timing was perfect. "Excuse me Mistress Padme, Master Kenobi. The Chancellor has requested your presence, Mistress Padme. He says it is a matter of great importance."

It likely had to do with the Wen Sown report which was hardly his concern. "Fine."

"You can't just--"

"I will. Stay here and wait for Anakin, we will discuss this when he gets back."

Obi-Wan rubbed his forehead wondering what the hell just happened.

------

"Be here you should not!"

Wen ignored master Yodas' glower and approached him waving her right hand in the air.

"I have no choice! He'll kill me if he knows I have this!" In her hand was her latest holo, information streamed from the Senate it's self. "Chancellor Palpatine is a Sith!"

The walk hadn't calmed Anakin down in the slightest. Merely thinking of leaving the order hurt to think about, it was his life, more than that he needed Obi-Wan at his side. He didn't care if he was being selfish anymore. What was wrong with wanting it all? A place in the order, a child, a beautiful wife and a handsome...what would Obi-Wan be if he said yes to them? A lover yes but would he say yes if they proposed at some point? A husband...Anakin like the sound of that.

It was a fantasy he couldn't see coming true of them continuing to work together and coming home to Padme. The baby would have three doting parents. Padme, Obi-Wan and him would make love until they were all physically exhausted. More than that wistful dream...Anakin wanted to hear Obi-Wan say he loved him. Hearing them, knowing Obi-Wan felt the same...he wanted that more than his next breath.

Neither man said much once he arrived back at the apartment. Obi-Wan murmured that Padme had gone to the senate and wanted to talk when she got back. They sat in silence for a bit too long making Anakin wonder if something happened when he was gone. The cheerfulness had gone out of Obi-Wan making him miss the way his masters' mood lit up the whole room. Did Padme and him argue? They usually got along. Maybe the stress from planning was getting to him? Unprompted Anakin walked around the sofa to massage Obi-Wans' tense muscles. It took a moment for him to relax enough--Anakin knew he couldn't do this as well with his prostatic hand--to let his former Padawan help soothe him.

A beep from Obi-Wans' communicator made Anakin curse drawing a chuckle from the older man.

"Obi-Wan meet us at the Chancellor Palpatines' office! We need as many masters as we can gather!" Mace Windu ordered.

Anakin and Obi-Wans' eyes met as they both thought of Padme. "We're on our way!'

"Just Jedi Masters, leave Skywalker !"

"That's not an option!" There was no way Anakin would sit behind while he wife was endangered.
-----

The first thing Padme heard when she stepped out of the elevator was a scream. She stilled as the telltale hum of lightsabers clashed not too far away. Down the hallway she could see a body lying on the floor and on instinct she rushed back to the lift. The doors wouldn't open and there wasn't any other exit she could access without trending into what sounded like a war.

Another being cried out as they were cut down, she caught sight of Master Windu, Kit Fisto and--the Chancellor?! Horror spread through her as Padme realized what this meant. All this time Palpatine was the Sith Lord, the master, the Jedi had been looking for ever since Naboo fought against the Trade Federation. She felt sick, the blaster she kept on her would be useless against him. If the Jedi failed she would be trapped with a Sith Master--her baby was in danger!

As if hearing her thoughts Palpatine cut through Master Fisto leaving her fate up to Mace Windu. Their lethal dance sent glass shards flying as the window shattered. The Jedi master yelled something out that was lost among the wind and traffic sounds. The elevator dinged to announce a new presence, neither Jedi or Sith glanced towards it as the doors opened. Obi-Wan was out first his eyes falling on her before looking on the scene in the Chancellors' office.

"Skywalker, I told you to stay behind!" Windu bellowed.

"You see how he distrusts you?! The Jedi will never be there for you or your wife, Anakin."

Padme looked away from Palpatine as he hissed like an animal. Next to her Obi-Wan tried to work the elevator to get her out only to discover it was set to go one way, up. It could be fixed though he doubted they would be given the chance to escape.

"Wife?!"

"You didn't know Skywalker was married to the senator?" The vile smile Palpatine gave made Padmes' skin crawl. "You are the father of the baby, aren't you Anakin? I'd hate to think the reports of Master Kenobi and her being true."

"Enough! That will be dealt with later. You're sentenced to death for your crimes against the Republic!"

"What--shouldn't he get a trial--?" Despite everything that (man?) thing did Padme still felt compelled to ask.

"He owns the courts! He's too dangerous to live!" The purple blade shook as blue lightning shot out of Palpatines' hands. They seemed to be at an odd stalemate with Palpatine willing to take the damage to his own face to keep the killing blow from landing.

"Think of the power that could be yours Anakin! Without the Jedi you could be free to be with the woman you love! Do you think they'd allow you to stay in their ranks now that they know?!"

Anakin wavered.

"Don't listen to him! He's trying to tempt you!" Obi-Wan shouted.

"He's not denying it! You'll lose everything!"

"You'll be as expendable as his other apprentices !" Anakins' master cried out.

Hissing Palpatine rose up throwing Windu against the far wall then directed his rage towards Obi-Wan. Anakin deflected most of it as the other Jedi blocked the rest to protect Padme. "You'd trust him with your wife?!"

"Yes! I love them both!"

"You love Kenobi?! More than you love your wife?" Palpatine cackled.

"No, the same."

"W-What?" Obi-Wan sputtered.

The declaration of love drew similar looks of confusion from Obi-Wan and Palpatine. For an odd moment the Sith Lord even looked at the Jedi as if he was silently asking him where that had come from. In a strange way it pleased Obi-Wan to know he wasn't the only one that Anakin confused.

Sparks flew over the room, blades crossed and Obi-Wan kept Padme safe as debris flew into the air. When Anakin struck the killing blow he only had a moment to tell Anakin to run before the room exposed. Bracing his body over Padme he took the impact and the last thing he heard were two voices yelling his name.

Most of the Jedi council was preparing for their next meeting. Only three were on the planet, two of which were already having their own debate.

"Went before you should, Master Windu!"

"There wasn't much time. We had to act before he knew he had been discovered!" Meeting Yodas' stony face with his own stern expression Mace pressed on. "A Sith with that much power was capable of anything!"

"Could not wait twenty more minutes? Finished I would have been then we may not of lost three Jedi." Yoda sighed letting his frustration go into the force. "Now confused matters are."

Mace sagged in his seat knowing Yoda was right. "Skywalker refused to bring Obi-Wan here. He says he didn't trust me with his care."

"Too attached he is to those he loves." He had sensed it for years hoping Anakin would never realize the love he held for his master. The same love had kept him in line when few things could.

"Skywalker will be expelled from the order." It was the only logical conclusion after discovering his marriage and attachment to Obi-Wan.

"Normally yes. With Wen Sown? Not as easy."

"I know she's obsessed with her deluded love story but I fail to see what that has to do with Skywalker." Mace leaned back in his seat to try to gauge what Yoda was getting at.

"Busy I was protecting Sown and gathering evidence! Without it turn the Republic would have on the Jedi!" Shaking his head at the memory Yoda tried to rub away the tense building in his forehead. "Seen the news you have not. While busy we were another tale was told."

------

Obi-Wan woke to Anakins' face hovering over his looking relieved to see his master was up. Gathering his senses he realized he was back in the senators' apartment in her guest room.

"You were just knocked out--don't worry Padme is fine."

Slowly Obi-Wan started to recall the fight with Palpatine, what Anakin had said. Anakin must have known what was on his mind as fear spiked through the force.

"I love you, Obi-Wan."

For once he had no words for his student, he was too shocked to even think of a reply.

"You are easy to fall for," Padme added from the doorway.

"I'm usually a bit jealous where Padme is concerned," Anakin admitted, "but the only thing I'm jealous about is that she got to kiss you before I did."

Obi-Wan backed up against the headboard wondering how hard he hit his head. "Anakin..."

"At least give it a chance or think about it first!" The combination of hurt and neediness in his voice never failed to pull at heartstrings. "Can I at least kiss you? Just once before...I don't know if their let me see you again."

Oh right, Mace Windu had learned of Anakins' marriage and affection for Obi-Wan. His heart sank just thinking of the forced separation to come.

"I...need to get my mind off this for awhile. We can discuss this further later." The distress on Anakins' face was unbearable but he wasn't doing much better. It was too much to take in and there was so much he had missed out on while he was knocked out. "Let me just get caught up with the holo--"

"NO!" The couple yelled in unison as he clicked the holonet on.

"Back to the news spreading throughout the Republic the shocking discovery of Chancellor Palpatine being a Sith Lord and being slain is the second biggest story of the day. The honor goes to the single greatest love story of all time between a senator and two Jedi forbidden to love."

Much to Obi-Wans' horror the events of their confrontation of Palpatine were aired complete with Anakins' love confession to both of them and mention of the baby.

"That's right, Jedi Anakin Skywalker The man without Fear has fearlessly confessed his love for his secret wife and Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. While Kenobi doesn't appear to be involved with Skywalker or the senator it seems he's still in their hearts. Will the Jedi finally allow these lovers together? Will the Skywalkers be able to negotiate a deal with Kenobi to make him part of the family? Our heroes deserve to be together after all they've done for the Republic. Let the Jedi know we demand Skywalker, Senator Amidala and Master Kenobi have the right to be together!" Wen raised her fist up in the air as she cried out for justice.

"How did my life turn into a holo-drama?" Obi-Wan lamented equal parts horrified and embarrassed that this was airing throughout the whole Republic.

"Our current poll is showing audience support for the Skywalker-Amidala-Kenobi union. We also have another poll for the name of the baby--"

Shutting off the holonet Obi-Wan groaned into his hands.

"I guess that killed the mood." Anakin grumbled sourly.

Padmes' glare had no affect as Anakin was staring at his upset master.

"By the way your name is winning in the polls."

"Anakin!"

There were rules to keep the paparazzi and news outlets from reporting outside anyone's home. With the Jedi trying to help deal with the senate with Palpatines' death there was hardly anyone to enforce this law except the Jedi inside senator Padme Amidalas' apartment. Given Master Yodas' request that they all remain inside it seemed counter productive if they attempted to deal with it head on. Confrontation would only give them what they wanted: to get some time onscreen with the famous Jedi.

"They can't get any closer or spy on us with the security means we've installed." Padme assured. "I'm sure their be removed before the end of the day."

Obi-Wan slipped his tea not willing to argue his escape route again. It was obvious the couple wanted any excuse to keep him near. Try as he might the whole thing was putting him on edge and the reporters were making it worse. To be fair Padme had remained a respectful distance and allowed him room to breath. Knowing that a rationale decision wouldn't come from hovering. The same could not be said about her husband who refused to be more than a foot away from Obi-Wan looking anxious. They had both told Anakin off for his clingy behavior but he continued to snuggle against his master as if neither had spoken.

"Perhaps." Setting down the empty cup onto the nightstand Obi-Wan pondered what to do. The Jedi council were handling politics and he was stuck with a married couple that want him. One of his friends had called him via com to ask if Obi-Wan would agree to it saying it was good for political reasons and suggested Anakin needed to "get it out of his system." As if the two greatest factors for such a union should be based on what outsiders thought or quelling Anakins' lust.

As if hearing his thoughts Anakin met his gaze head on and asked: "Doesn't it feel right to you?"

He pondered the question for a moment wondering if he could properly sort out his feelings in one day. "It feels confusing and odd. I don't know if it would even work."

The arguments about attachment were moot at this point. Obi-Wan hadn't objected to the marriage, he had some attachments to the couple and the council were being pressured to allow Jedi to have families. All that mattered between the three of them was if Obi-Wan agreed to such an arrangement.

"We'll make it work." Sitting down next to him Padme gave him a quick peck to the lips. Obi-Wan could feel Anakins' jealousy and knew it was because he hadn't had a chance to kiss his master.

"I don't know how to feel."

"Then react on instinct and allow yourself to feel." It was odd to hear a lesson he had imparted to Anakin used as a pick up line directed at himself.

"Tell me you didn't use all of my teachings like this." The answering smirk drew a groan out of him, of course Anakin would.

"In other ways too. I'm adaptable, master. Resourceful and focused on my goals." He played with Obi-Wans' beard letting his hands wander. "I remember being struck my your eyes the first time I saw you. I never saw anything like them before, I knew you were important just not why. Not yet. I still remember the way I felt when we were introduced and you smiled at me. I feel it every time I see you smile. Ever since I wanted nothing more than to please you."

One chilled metallic finger brushed Obi-Wans' lips which slightly parted at the other mans' words.

"I'd gladly spend the rest of my life pleasing you, Obi-Wan. Please let me try, Master." There was a brief hesitation before the cold finger was replaced by a warm mouth.

Padme watch the chaste kiss slowly turn more and more desperate. Obi-Wan allowed himself to respond to test the waters while Anakin quickly lost himself in the kiss. The needy sounds he made along with the intimate sight of the two men was intoxicating. Despite starting out as the seducer Anakin had effectively lost his power the moment they touched. They parted only long enough to breath before Anakin pulled them together again. Obi-Wan didn't look like the levelheaded Jedi then, he was a commanding gorgeous man that her husband was worshipping like a deity. A surge of sudden want had her pulling him in for another taste loving the tiny noises Obi-Wan made. Anakin stole another kiss and somehow the two of them were taking turns sharing the Jedi master between them.

Yes, Padme thought happily, this could work out very well.

Oh... yess Padme, hopefully this works outd as well as you imagine.
It seems ObiWan has been well and truly caught!

Do you think you'll be showing us a glimpse of what othr Senators and Jedi must be thinking right about now?

Re: Obi-Wan: Jedi and Married Man?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-01 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
What was left of the council sans Obi-Wan voted on reforming the Jedi code. The deciding vote fell to Yoda who had given the matter much thought. He had seen the order decline over the years and knew the Jedi had to adapt to changes in the universe if they wanted to survive. It would be for the best if they didn't fight against it any longer. Many spoke of the Skywalker/Amidala marriage and the possibility Obi-Wan entering the union. While many knew better than to take reporters like Wen Sown seriously the idea of those three didn't bother many. If anything it made sense, Obi-Wan always stabilized Anakin and nothing that could bring Obi-Wan happiness could be bad. Few Jedi knew Padme well, as long as she made their fellow Jedi happy they didn't care.

Not long after the Jedi had cleared away the reporters from the senators' apartment Padme Amidala--Skywalker--went into labor. As the holonet was still trying to comprehend Palptines' intentions no one picked up on her disappearance for some time. Das Newb, a rival to Wen Sown, had suggested the Sith Lord was attempting to seduce Skywalkee in a sexual manner since he didn't understand what Kenobi meant by tempt. Reports of Palpatine being a pervented Sith that wanted to break up the trio of lovers sent the news into a frenzy. Padme was at the Jedi temple having already given birth by the time the sleaziest story on lightsabers being used for other means aired.

The senate was in an uproar over conflicting reports with Padmes' enemies arguing against her supporters. One of the oddest statement came from the opposing side that asked why the senator from Naboo got to be so greedy and take two Jedi. Senator Binks gave a statement to the reporters saying he was happy for his long time friends being allowed to marry. When Wen Sown asked if the Skywalkers could be able to take Kenobi as a husband according to Naboo laws he laughed. Having more than one spouse wasn't entirely uncommon but what amused Binks most was the wording. It seemed Naboo custom dictated that once married the family name came from the oldest spouse. Which would mean they were the Amidalas and if Obi-Wan joined them they would be the Kenobis.

Back at the temple Padme watched her twins Luke and Leia as her Jedi proudly held them. When feeding time came the two men left the babies with her so they could talk among themselves.

"After catching up with the news I was wondering if you would marry us."

"Anakin...are you really proposing to me? Don't you think it's a little early?"

"No, I've waited far too long for this." Anakin laced their fingers together. "What do you say?"

"It's tempting...if only for the fact you'd be Anakin Kenobi. I do think Anakin Amidala sounds better." Obi-Wan laughed at Anakins' expression.

"I'm being serious, Obi-Wan."

"I know, I was teasing. Just give me some time to think on this." He ran his free hand through his hand.

"Maybe you can think of it in the morning." Anakin murmured huskily. "We have a living quarter all to our selves. Padme will be jealousy but she did get to kiss you first."

"Why Anakin, I'm SHOCKED you'd suggest such a thing." The Jedi master said soundly scandalized, his expression told a different story. The man was getting far too much enjoyment out of pushing his potential husbands' buttons. "I'm not that sort of man. I'm afraid you'll have to wait until our wedding night."

"Oh." Anakin did a double take. "Does that mean you're saying yes?!"

"Possibly. I am seriously about you waiting though."

"Why?"

"Besides the fact it wouldn't be fair to Padme as you just proposed without her?" Obi-Wan grinned. "Think of it as a lesson in patience."
