Obi-wan/Anakin, reincarnation
(Anonymous) 2016-03-11 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)His life plan is something like that: 1/Not going evil, nope, nope, nope !
2/finding Obi-wan, Obi-wan cannot be there, he's supposed to be there, and protect him.
Falling in love with an Obi-wan who does'nt remember was not the plan...

(Anonymous) 2016-03-12 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)There had been a lot of strife in the Skywalker line over the years, the legacy of Darth Vader had tainted the family for centuries. There were still descendants that could become Jedi but they were too young, too few. The galaxy needed powerful and skilled beings to lead the way. The order had survived but it was split down the middle on what to do. As a result inaction and in fighting kept the Jedi from doing their duty.
Master Yoda, Obi-Wan and Anakin had watched everything. All of the dead Jedi to join their ranks--mostly Skywalkers--debated on who to send. It was Yoda who suggested Obi-Wan and him needed to maintain balance. The chosen one was needed again but he had to have someone to ground him. Anakin knew Obi-Wan deserved a chance to start anew and he had a chance to make things right. The hardest part was saying goodbye to his children.
Retaining immortality within the force gave one knowledge and power. They could return to life looking the same as they had the first time although they would return to infant states. Yoda had about everything planned before they the process was interrupted. Anakin didn't know who they were, the Sith were long gone but there were different kinds of dark wider users. Somehow he was separated from Obi-Wan and for sixteen years Anakin was raised in a string of orphanages as Earl Den. His memories slowly came back to him over the years and he trained in secret until he was old enough to run away to search for Obi-Wan.
When he was Vader he had been obsessed with finding his master and only discovered him once Obi-Wan came out in the open. Anakin had been working under the impression that Obi-Wan would be looking for him or waiting back at his home planet. At twenty one Anakin still hadn't found him although he had fought against the Grand Division, another legacy of the Empire that still lingered like a plague. It wasn't until he was twenty three that Anakin found his lost friend on a stolen smugglers' ship. It had been hard to imagine Obi-Wan younger but Anakin had assumed they would now be the same ages. They weren't, Obi-Wan was sixteen looking fairly wary as Anakin approached him. That should have been a warning that something was amiss besides his age.
"Run along Jedi, the boy belongs to us." The darkside sang through the mans' veins trying to call out to Anakin again. He ignored it.
"You are mistaken. He will be leaving with me. It would be unwise to keep us apart." He chanced a glance at the youth who gave him a puzzled look in return.
The force was still strong with Anakin and the match was barely worth the effort. There had been no point with toying with the fool, he wished to be reunited with his friend and nothing would keep them apart. Only after decapitating the man did it occur to him that Obi-Wan should have been able to deal with the weakling himself.
"I'll fly us out of here, Obi-Wan. We can meet up with the he fleet later."
Anakin was at the wheel when the boy spoke and he froze at his words.
"Who's Obi-Wan?" Irritation won out over fear as the teen started a new flow of questions. "Who are YOU? Where are you taking me?"
It had never occurred to Anakin that Obi-Wan wouldn't retain his memories. He sat in his pilot chair mourning the loss of their friendship knowing he hadn't been to blame this time but feeling guilty nonetheless.
"I thought you were Obi-Wan." Anakin murmured.
"No, I'm not." The teen gave him a measuring look before collapsing into the co-pilot chair. "...He murdered my parents."
The weight of the horror he had to endure seemed to crush Obi-Wan as he sank further into his seat. With so many beings leaving the orphanage and being transferred so many times Anakin had ironically not gained any attachments in this life. In truth he only been focused on regaining an old one. It was strange to see this young Obi-Wan talking about his parents.
"Let it out." He thought he heard a sob escape the teen and almost jumped at the odd sound. "We'll figure something out."
Caught in a daze of grief Obi-Wan didn't object when Anakin landed and guided him into the abandoned base he was staying at. It wasn't until they were sharing ration bars that the boy tensed up. Maybe he should have let Obi-Wan take more time before he had ushered him back to his home for protection. It was a trait that Anakin still hadn't been able to rid himself of: possession. They belonged together, even now their force bond remained strong and there was no way he would lose him now. This was their chance to live their lives on happier terms, to fight side by side again.
"What are you going to do to me?"
"Train you in the ways of the force." He smiled at the thought of training his master. "They wanted you for your power and you need to defend yourself."
"Who are they?" Obi-Wan asked looking far too vulnerable for his liking.
"Dark Jedi, Sith, Knights of Ren, over the years there have been many names for dark side users. Regardless I'm not going to let you fall to the dark side." The note of steel in his voice made Obi-Wan recoil. "What do you call yourself?"
The teen bit his lip as he looked over Anakin, his eyes were untrusting.
"I'm Anakin." It was the truth and he didn't know anyone well enough to ever use Earl Den growing up.
"I'm Alecew." He reached out his hand and Anakin took it trying to stop himself from getting too emotional.
"Pleased to meet you, Alecew."
Obi-Wan, or rather Alecew (Anakin kept calling him Obi-Wan in his head) took to the lessons fast. Anakin really didn't feel like he was teaching anything just reintroducing his master to the force. It was like muscle memory as Alecew seamlessly moved into different stances, the look on his face was one of utter joy.
"This feels familiar!" He beamed twirling Anakins' lightsaber around like a true Jedi.
"It should, you were born for this. Being a Jedi is who you are. The force calls to you."
Alecew nodded staring at the lightsaber in awe. "I know. I feel it."
Reaching out into their bond Anakin felt the whirlwind of emotions the young Jedi was feeling. Absently the teen wiped at tears that had started to form.
"I don't know why I'm crying." He turned away embarrassed.
"I think you're happy to be home." Anakin mused failing to move the lump in his throat.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-12 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)It's wonderful ^____^ I really, really like what you made of the prompt. It's very fitting that Anakin start by saving Obi-wan: it's a long tradition between them to save each other. And your Obi-wan reuniting with the Force....just wonderful
For the question, Anakin/Obi-Wan always a thing or for Anakin to just realize it, i've no real opinion. I'm sure they weren't sleeping together in Revenche of the Sith, but perhaps even there there was sexual tension, only Anakin had Padme in his life and Obi-wan had the Republic/another lover/perhaps he made a vow i don't know.
Re: As Long as It's You 1/?
(Anonymous) 2016-03-12 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)I've given this some thought and here's how I think I'm going to play it. Anakin and Obi-Wan were never romantically linked. Anakin had trouble defining what he had with Obi-Wan especially since he became his brother/father/family figure. There was a repressed attraction but Anakin never bothered exploring or even acknowledged since he had Padme. Whether Obi-Wan ever had similar feelings won't be answered simply because Anakin has no idea and Alecew won't remember. Right now Alecew is Anakins' world so he has nothing to distract him. Plus Alecew is less reversed than Obi-Wan.

Re: As Long as It's You 2/?
(Anonymous) 2016-03-12 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)When he pondered leaving in the middle of the night something deep within told him not to and as maddening as it was Alecew would always hesitate. The force guided him, Anakin hadn't needed to tell him this he knew it as fact. Somehow he had alway known it but that didn't make sense. He was being pulled into a direction without knowing why he should be following that path.
Sometimes the Jedi acted like he knew Alecew better than himself and he strived to prove him wrong. Once they had flown into town with Anakin quipping that he'd make the ride smooth implying Alecew hated flying. His reply about neither loving or hating it had made the man quiet for the rest of the trip. Another time he was teased about his core accent even though a good amount of the population back home had them. It seemed that Anakin got a special type of joy out of hearing Alecew yell his name in an exasperated fashion.
These moments bothered Alecew, it felt like there was something of importance he wasn't being told. Some cruel cosmic joke with him as the punchline. Despite feeling the pull of the force urging him to stay with Anakin he started exploring on his own to gain some distance. Nothing rash like going off planet but he needed to think. The beasts of the planet (in truth he didn't know the name of the planet and was sure he was never told) didn't care for his wandering in their territory. It would be a simple matter to slay them all with his lightsaber but Alecew hated the idea of killing innocents for a mistake he made.
He recalled there being something, an ability or trick, that could calm those winged creatures. There were increasingly less and less places to hide in the mountains and making any connect with the animals required skill. His "training" usually required very little work from Anakin as Alecew found himself instantly taking to each lesson. Their first duel had him already proving himself to be a match for the man. Pride and sorrow had come over Anakin when they finished stating that while he didn't like fighting other Jedi he was pleased to see such skill again. Reaching out Alecew tried to gain control over the beasts and cried out in pain when one sliced his arm. Gritting his teeth he tried again making the furry things land around him in a circle, their heads bowed.
"While it's always good to see you thriving in your use of the force this could have been avoided."
Not far off below on a rocky cliff stood the Jedi shooting him a look that remided Alecew of his parents when they were disappointed in their son.
"I assume you mean by not running off. I needed the space." Petting the pelt on one beasts he straddled the back letting it carry him back. He sensed rather than saw Anakin take control of another to ride down the mountain.
"What you did was reckless."
The teen quirked an eyebrow, "I went for a walk because you were constantly hovering over me. That's not reckless that's retaining my sanity."
Anakin looked taken aback. "Next time let me know."
The boy sighed but agreed. They walked back into the base side by side passing the many inventions Anakin had started to tinker with. Removing his belt and jacket Alecew sat back onto the still intact seat. The base had been abandoned fairly recently so most of it was in pretty good condition.
"I see you have constructed a new lightsaber." Behind him Anakin activated the blue blade casting light into the dim room. "Impressive."
"Thanks."
The hum of the lightsaber was silenced as Anakin retracted the blade and searched for the right thing to say.
"If you--if we have a problem you can tell me about it."
Alecew laughed. "I've tried, you're not exactly a good listener. You do what you want no matter what I say."
Taking a seat in front of the teen Anakin nodded. "I know, I'm trying to work on that. Talk to me."
"I'm confused. None of this makes sense then it does. I don't know what my place is in this war the Republic is fighting, with you, any of it. Yet when I search for answers with the force..."
"It feels right." Anakin finished. Opening a med kit he started cleaning the cut on the youths' arm.
"Yes. It's hard to let go and just trust something I just learned about. I have so many questions and I know so little about you." Alecew realizes he knew next to nothing of the man despite being in his company for nearly a month.
"My life...it's confusing. I doubt you'd even believe it if I told you everything. "
A gentle brush against his mind felt more like an embrace than an invasion yet Alecew still tensed. "What's your last name?"
A shadow of a smile passed Anakins' face. "I've had a lot of names over the years. The only one that matters is Anakin. No one in this universe knows me well enough for any other name to be important."
"Well...that was unnecessarily vague." The boy remarked dryly earning another affectation grin from the man.
"You never offered a second name either."
"Where I'm from you don't take a second name until you decide who's side of the family you will take after. I never knew my birth parents which makes it all the more troublesome." Just Alecew the youth that had grown up in a happy home until dark side users had murdered them because of what their adopted son was. "I'm not sure I'll ever know who I'm supposed to be."
"You will."
Re: As Long as It's You 3/?
(Anonymous) 2016-03-13 07:02 am (UTC)(link)It felt right to have Obi-Wan fighting back to back with him again. He wouldn't have traded it for anything in all the universe and beyond. While his former mentor was younger, shorter and different than their last life they were still the perfect team. So much so Anakin almost missed the fact Obi-Wan was more powerful as Alecew. Hadn't his master told him that he'd become more powerful than he could possible imagine if Vader killed him? Anakin didn't think his own abilities had changed much, this time he had the opportunity to use them fully. As Vader the chance had been (rightfully) taken from him before he could truly tap into his power.
The pair had to be on the move to keep away from all force users. Those tainted by the darkside still wanted Alecew and Anakin didn't want to deal with the Jedi. Bad history aside Anakin didn't know what the Jedi would do if they discovered who they were. There were so many in this era that the two of them could travel with lightsabers blazing without any of the common people knowing who they were. That had been the plan at least but it seemed that Anakin hadn't given this generation enough credit. Their on Jakku of all places when another Jedi find them, something about her made him look her way. Alarm lit her eyes and fear so strong it's choking freezes them in their tracks.
"Vader." The hiss was low enough that he knows Alecew can't hear it but the name still fills him with disgust.
Tremors of anger shoot through him but Anakin will not let the emotion overcome him again. He doesn't know how anyone could know who he is--was--on sight. Certainly no one human and his lightsaber ignites a second after hers. Unlike the dark Jedi he's faced the woman is skilled, powerful and far more of a challenge.
"You should have stayed dead. No good can come with your return." Brown eyes narrowed at blue.
"Quite judgmental for a Jedi."
The strength in his parry usually staggers most opponents, the woman retained her form and met him with an equally powerful blow. Other than the teen trailing after the duelist no one had been able to match him in a fight. Normally he'd find it refreshing but with Alecew so close it's worrisome. The boy drew his own lightsaber alerting her to his presence. Her hand rose to push him away the same time Anakins' did sending them in opposite directions. Her eyes bore into Anakins' before glancing at Alecew. The way her brow furrowed made him uneasy, like she was trying to place where she saw this youth. Normally he'd wager she won't know but the fact she knew enough to recognize him sans armor meant there was a good chance she'd make the connection.
"Go to the ship!"
Alecew frowned. "I'm not sensing any darkness in her. Why is she fighting you?"
"I suspect my master has a good reason." A girl roughly Alecews' age drew her own blade.
"Indeed I do." Turning her gaze towards Anakin she motioned to the side with her head. "I believe you have a ship here. We'll be taking it and you to the council."
"You're not going anywhere unless I allow it." He reasoned that out of all of them the Padawan girl was the least skilled thus the weak link.
"It seems your "master" wishes for bloodshed. How shocking." The woman still had her emerald blade pointed out waiting for any possible attacks.
"To be fair you were the one who started the fight. I was under the impression a Jedi uses their abilities to defend not to attack." The boy withdrew his own lightsaber. "If you're Jedi then can't we talk or negotiate?"
The woman's head spun in Alecews' direction, her eyes widening with realization. Slowly she composed herself, dismissing her Padawans' worried glance she gestured towards the ship yard. "I believe your...friend...to be a dangerous person of interest. This must be confirmed at the high council."
The force whispered to all of them asking for the woman to not judge Anakin for the past and for Anakin not to fight. Every fiber of his being wanted to take Alecew and run. To forsake their destiny of saving the universe again no matter what the force said. Only...that would mean he was being just as irresponsible as he once was. Denying anything had ever been his fault in the first place and placing blame where it didn't belong. If he fought it would only bring more unwanted attention onto them and Anakin couldn't kill more Jedi. He had clung possessively to Padme and where had that gotten him? She was lost to him, her voice silenced forever though she was part of the force. His daughter had once made a comment about the Empire tightening it's fist resulting in systems slipping through it's fingers. The same could apply to his smothering Alecew, the teen already complained about his protectiveness. As much as he wished to hold onto the happiness he had finally found history couldn't be allowed to repeat itself.
That meant he had to take the risk even if he could potentially lose Alecew.
"Do you promise not to harm him?"
Her expression softened at Alecews' question, where she glowered at Anakin her face held nothing but respect for the boy.
"As long as he doesn't harm us then yes. You have my word."

(Anonymous) 2016-03-14 03:34 am (UTC)(link)Alecew found himself drawn to one display with three lightsabers.
"Are you a student of history?"
The woman that had dragged them off to the temple had returned with Anakin somberly trailing after her.
"In some respects yes although I haven't really had a chance to study much on the Jedi."
"You should, it's quite fascinating. The emperor tried to erase Jedi from the history books, many records would have been lost forever if not for those devoted to the lore. My family has taken great efforts to preserve history." She smiled warmly at the boy. "I'm Nat Skywalker. You are Alec Ew?"
"It's one word: Alecew." He correct but shook hands nonetheless.
"This display holds the lightsaber of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. A great hero to the Republic and the man responsible for keeping my ancestors out of the Siths' clutches." Nat gestured to each lightsaber in turn. "This was used on Naboo against a Sith Lord when Obi-Wan was still a Padawan. He was knighted after he defeated the Sith using his masters' lightsaber. This one was found months later but kept in honor of his service. The second was taken when he was captured by the Separatist right before the Clone Wars started."
Alecew pointed at the third looking from Nat to Anakin in hopes they could explain something he didn't understand. "I sense...the last one makes me feel sad."
"Obi-Wan used it throughout the Clone Wars and held it when he died at the hands of a Sith to allow his allies a chance to escape."
Anakin stiffened, it was hard to read his expression when it was hidden in shadows.
The sorrow from the lightsaber however was hard to shut out, it felt ingrained into his soul. Then Anakin grabbed his shoulder and the heartache passed. Blinking away tears that had not yet fallen Alecew tried to clear his head. To bring up a topic to make them stop staring at him like that. "Umm...How did the council meeting go? Are you some deranged madman?"
It was meant as a joke to lighten the mood but no one laughed.
"It was...Inconclusive. Until we are certain Anakin has agreed to stay with us." She didn't look any more pleased at the prospect than Anakin did.
"Besides it might be good for you to learn more about the Jedi."
"We're prisoners?" No one was using the term yet it seemed apt.
"No. This is what was what we decided on for what was best for all parties. Think of it as an opportunity for both of us." Suddenly Anakin released his hold and Alecew caught the look that passed between Nat and him. Why did she care if Anakin was affectionate towards him? "It's probably best if we keep away from the dark Jedi we've been running into."
"They were annoying but we were doing alright." Maybe Anakin really didn't have faith in him and his abilities. "Do you think I'm holding you back?"
Anakin winced, "No. You've never have." His voice shook but he sounded confident.
"I'm sure your tired from your long trip. Care-ee will show you to your quarters."
"Yes, our long unscheduled trip." The sarcasm in his voice made Anakins' lip twitch.
It was obvious the two of them were just getting him out of the way to continue making plans he wouldn't be given a say in. As the Padawan escorted him out of the room he heard Anakin exclaim, "he's not a musuem piece" before the heavy doors closed. The rooms Care-ee brought him to were more like suites than the small rooms Alecew had stayed in when his parents traveled. Reminded of his loss and Anakins' fowl mood Alecew reached out through their bond to give an encouraging tug. After a pause he felt warmth through their connection and reclined on the sofa feeling more relaxed.
It wasn't until nightfall that he saw Anakin again and he had a suspicion the man had snunk in to see him. "Their not letting you see me, are they?"
"Their going to limit the amount of time I can see you."
"So we are prisoners." Would the Jedi hurt them?
"No. They just want to make sure I'm not a danger to them." Anakins' face clouded, "they also want to test your skills."
The youth nodded but kept his comment to himself. Nothing made sense, why were the Jedi leery of Anakin? If they suspect something was wrong with him then why were they interested in Alecew? Judging by Anakins' argument with Master Skywalker it seemed reasonable to assume there was something about him too. Did they think he was dangerous?
Training sessions made him nervous, the council watched him move through the forms and sparring matches. Five days in he refused to participate anymore no matter how much they pleaded. The answers they gave weren't entirely honest, he could tell and he didn't like it one bit. When the stress started getting to him Anakin would send soothing waves of affection through their bond. Alecew did the same when he felt Anakins' unhappiness. Master Skywalker was nice, he truly liked her but he didn't understand her. No one outside the council looked at Alecew strangely or watched Anakin and him closely. It was almost as if the council thought Anakin would stab him if they were left alone.
"Anakin wouldn't hurt me." He assured.
"You know this as a fact?" One of the masters asked as if Alecew were some simple child that couldn't understand basic math. "Do you know him well?"
"Everyone says to trust the force. I do and it's telling me I can trust him." None of the masters had an answer for that one.

Re: As Long as It's You 5/?
(Anonymous) 2016-03-16 12:35 am (UTC)(link)The lives he snuffed out including those he once held dear.
As the protectors of the Republic it was the duty of the Jedi to defend it against possible threats. Their intentions are good even if their focus isn't where it should be. Nat did have a point about Alecew though, she knew who he was and understood why he had to be protected. Without his memories Alecew would be more vulnerable to being tempted by the dark side. The dark Jedi somehow knew this and had made their intentions clear.
Alecew had no idea what was going on which frustrated him to no end. He didn't want to be shaped by the council into their idealist Jedi. Few listened to Anakins' points when he brought it up or that he was the only one that could reach the boy. They were both growing restless being stuck in the temple and at night they would meet up to discuss their days. It pained Anakin that he couldn't be completely honest, he wanted to be but how could he explain it in a way that wouldn't sound crazy?
On the eve of Alecews' seventeenth birthday he caught the boy acting bashful around a female Padawan. The boy was growing up and it made sense for him to be attracted to others it just didn't fit the imagine Anakin had for Obi-Wans' behavior. While he was sure his master had sex he had never known the details and was certain Obi-Wan made sure he never would. He had stated that personal affairs were between the contenting parties and it was no one else's business. Obi-Wan had never pried into Anakins' sexual life even though they both knew where he went. Anakin had missed out on a great many things in his old life, he had never given the talk to either of his children. When he had been given it he had heard two different variations from the temple healer and Obi-Wan.
"Do you know about,"Anakin cleared his throat,"sex?"
His voice might have wobbled at the end.
"My father told me a bit and we had studies on it at school." Alecew didn't met his eyes and blushed in embarrassment.
"If you have any, er, questions you can ask me."
Neither of them were looking forward to that prospect.
"I'll keep that in mind."
Two months later the girl made the first move by kissing Alecew in the garden at sunset. If Anakin wasn't certain that only the council knew who Alecew was he'd be suspicious of the girls' intentions. At first it looks like a ideal first kiss, innocent and chaste. When the girl deepened it Anakin finds himself growling in the back of his throat. A pained cry from Alecew has him ready to throttle the Padawan even if she keeps apologizing. Alecew was pouting when Anakin found him looking disappointed and in pain. Grabbing the boys' face he tilted up his chin to confirm a smear of blood on his lips.
"I din eee di it ong."
If Anakin wasn't so furious at the girl hurting Alecew he would have laughed at how horrible the first kiss went. "It seems that she was a little too eager. She bit your tongue, didn't she?"
The scarlet hue to Alecews' face confirmed his theory.
After the incident Alecew is a little more cautious, he likes girls especially one but it's obvious he feels a little unsure of himself. Another change from the Obi-Wan he knew to add to the list. Obi-Wan used to love tea from Japsa which Qui-Gon introduced him to, Alecew hates it. Obi-Wan didn't care for spicy candies while Alecew adored anything spicy. Obi-Wan would be comfortable in any dwelling while Alecew struggles to adapt to his surroundings. There's nothing huge just little quirks that still manage to catch Anakin off guard. While Obi-Wan never shied away from physical touches he was never leaned into them the way Alecew did.
Nat finally starts to come around to Anakins' way of thinking when Alecew has enough of the cryptic talk and storms out of the temple. Unlike Anakins' younger days the teen is more sensible but that doesn't mean it's any less dangerous. When he comes back (because even the council realizes he wouldn't abandon Anakin) Nat and him had to sit down with the boy to discuss their history. As expected he doesn't believe in reincarnation much less the fact Anakin and him were the heroes of the Clone Wars. They both know it's a risky choice to let Alecew watch the historical records by himself but there's little choice.
Hours pass with Anakin feeling the progression of Alecews' emotional state. When the shock wears off a sense of wonder takes over that Anakin wishes he could hold onto. Because it won't last after the Clone Wars records end. The first stab of pain shoots through their bond as his betrayal is discovered. It increases tenfold over the next hour as the past horrors are rediscovered. The temple quakes with Alecews' unchecked power, despite learning to suppress his increased abilities the raw emotion can't be contained. In his mind he can hear the denial, the scream of horror and the soul deep hurt that may never heal. All of it exists because of Anakin Skywalker and no matter how many lives he lives he knows he'll never escape it.
His mistakes ruined everything he held dear and hundreds of years later the damage keeps adding up. Anakin knows their there without looking up but he does anyway. Dead Jedi surround him in his time of need even though he knows he's done nothing to deserve their support. Most of them are Skywalkers those who know better than anyway the cost of his sins. Leia says nothing, any judgement she would have passed in life is absent in death. She has her mothers' sorrow etched on her face except Leia fully understands what he did.
Yodas' ears drooped and despite knowing the risks he had hoped this second chance would go better for them. It probably would have if Obi-Wans' memories were intacted. There's a noticeable absence in the group that takes Anakin a moment to fully grasp. Luke isn't around but as much as he'd find comfort in his sons' presence he knows he's needed elsewhere.
"Did I do the right thing by telling him the truth?"
His daughter doesn't look certain and he can understand why. Luke and her were protected by comforting lies growing up. Leia always had trouble excepting the truth of her parentage and what that meant.
"If you were going to tell him you could have gone about it differently. Told him pieces until you dropped the bombshell on him." She shakes her head turning towards the direction of the teen. "Things are only going to get harder from here on."
"Better to know now then learn from the enemy." Yoda reasoned.
"Not if it has the same results." The bond was being shielded off but Anakin could sense something had a calming affect on the boy. Anakin silently thanked his son, Luke had been his salvation and could save Alecew if given the chance.
"That's not your choice to make." Leia retorted. "He has every right to be upset with you. "
"No one knows that as well as I do." Anakin assured.
"Chose your next steps carefully you should. Put him first you must, your pride matters not."
"I know."
They stayed with him as he meditated providing silent support to give him the strength he needed for what came next.

Re: As Long as It's You 6/?
(Anonymous) 2016-03-17 03:50 am (UTC)(link)Alecew couldn't believe he had been a legend, the first Jedi in thousands of years to kill a Sith, a Jedi master and a general. Then at the end of the Clone Wars things had taken a turn for the worst. The Clones had turned against their Jedi leaders, the Jedi order and the Republic had fallen. All of it made Alecew feel sick yet he could stop himself from learning more. The holo screens displayed images of Darth Vader the Sith Lord that's name still scared beings many generations after his death.
When he was little his father had told Alecew stories of Darth Vader during their tribute to Death Day. It was a holiday to mark the passing of others long gone and tell tales of monsters. Vader was a creature of pure evil that let planets burn, cities fell and heroes died by a wave of his hand. An inhuman machine that went after children. As he grew older more tellings of Vader reached his ear of the Siths' brutality. Children either died by his blade or were twisted into monsters themselves.
The dark lord consumed souls, he basked in misery, tormented those who had once been dear to him. Walking death that would never let any target escape his grasp. They said that after he feed off his victims dying breath that you would hear it escape his helmet through the metal grating that used to be his mouth. Those gasps of breathes would be the last thing you heard before your own life was taken.
Many nights Alecew had dreamed of this dark shadow chasing him. In those nightmares he saw him clearer than any image his family had created. Vader was more machine than man yet his movements were almost regal, commanding. The helmet hide his face but Alecew knew those eyes were locked on him. Each time he dreamed of the Sith the setting changed. In a hanger that eventually led to a rail less catwalk that ended in a room with timed crimson energized walls and a gaping pit. A great arena with battle droids, Jedi and beasts. A Jedi temple. A waste land of a planet with endless sand. A world almost completely covered of lava and fury.
No matter where he went Vader followed and Alecew was always defenseless. The worst dreams were the ones when Vader spoke.
"It is useless to run. You will never escape. Now and forever you are mine to do with as I please."
Once the Sith had actually caught him dangling the boy helplessly over the lava.
"There will be no escaping now."
That had been mere hours before his parents had been killed and he had been rescued.
By Anakin.
His only real friend in the whole universe was the monster from his nightmares. The legend had been based on actual history and in another life the man had been his former student. A hero that betrayed everything he once believed in and taken countless lives. Including his own. Anakin had killed him.
Alecew couldn't stop himself from shaking, he hadn't even realized he was crying until the hot tears ran down his cheek onto his wrist. His arms were crossed tightly against his body as if the mere act could keep him together when his world was falling apart. Was this all just some sick twisted game? Had Obi-Wan Kenobi truly deserved to be tormented so much that the powers that be decided to make him suffer in the next life too?
At the first tingle through the force Alecew tensed as if awaiting a blow. The sound of his own panting made him shudder and cautiously he lets himself reach out to sense for danger. He almost expected to find Vader in front of him sans mask with Anakin grinning down at him.
There's a connection through the force only it isn't the bond he shares with Anakin. It's pure warmth and understanding. Alecew doesn't really understand his own feelings or how they translate with this special bond because he feels a surge of love for this person. A protective and proud sort of love as if he's a doting relative. Wiping away his tears Alecew finally opened his eyes.
He knows that he should scream because he's sure he's seeing a ghost and not a holo image. Yet the bearded face that greets him makes Alecew feel like he's home. It's a face he's seen in the records but Alecew feels their connection now.
"You're Luke."
The man smiled at him fondly like he was speaking to his favorite relative. "Yes, I am. In another life you were my first master and you've always been a good friend."
"I...I did this?" If he names what "this" is Alecew knows he'll break again.
"No. The emperor did, he manipulated the Republic, the Jedi and the Separatists. My father holds some responsibility too for falling for the lies he was told. I know what it's like to be tempted by the darkside, all Jedi have been at some point. It's a choice and while he made it in a desperate move to save my mother it was still his choice. He's knows this and has accepted it. It was also his choice to save me and destroy the emperor at the cost of his own life."
Alecew frowns at his first impulse comfort Luke because he knows that's whatever lingers from his life as Obi-Wan. "That doesn't make it right."
"No, it doesn't. He may never make amends for what he's done but he's trying."
"How? By lying to me for a year? He killed..."' He can't say "me" but Luke seems to understand.
"For what it's worth two did forgive each other. " Lukes' sad smile made Alecew bite back his retort. "I don't expect you to now but it wasn't supposed to be this way Alecew. Both of you were supposed to remember the past. The Order of Medap learned of our plan. The process was interrupted and you returned later than expected without your memories."
"Oh. I was starting to think you wanted to get back at me."
It was almost comical the way Lukes' eyes widened. "For what?"
"It made it...the records made it sound like I kept the truth from you too."
"Alecew, I didn't hold a grudge. It took awhile but I understood." The ghost gave a smile laugh. "I'm not here to haunt you. I'm letting you know you're not alone."
Was it possible to miss someone you didn't even know you knew? It must have been because Alecew knew he had missed Luke.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-18 02:19 am (UTC)(link)It had been three days since Alecew viewed the records and Anakin last saw the boy. He had given him space to think and hadn't gone to visit. Alecew had kept away from most of the Jedi with Master Nat Skywalker being the only one in the temple he spoke to since discovering the truth. With the teen hardly eating it looked like Anakin would have to face his fear and deal with the consequences of his past actions.
The look on Alecews' face when he enters is enough to stop him in his tracks. Often Anakin had wondered how Obi-Wan had taken the news of his betrayal. But his master had been an adult not a boy watching his friend with dread. Their bond had been silent for three days after Alecew had shielded his mind making his emotional state even more shocking. Anakin doubted things had been this bad when he had been absent.
"Alecew." His voice cracked half way into the name.
"Don't talk to me."
"Be mad with me if you must but don't starve yourself." Anakin unconsciously took a step forward making the teen recoil at his approach.
"Like you care."
"I do. Through two lives you've been my best friend--"
"Some friend." Alecew bit his lip and looked away. Eyes welling the boy shook his head in a silent denial. "You murdered countless and destroyed everything you believed in!"
"Yes I did." Taking another step Anakin took a deep breath wondering if this was the calm before the storm.
"You killed me." The youth whispered.
"I...I did." There was no denying it or making excuses for his actions. "I let myself be consumed by hate."
"You got off easily."
Anakins' mouth fell open at the statement, Obi-Wan had blamed himself and in his arrogance Vader had misdirected blame onto his master. Seeing a younger version of Obi-Wan glaring at him and wishing he suffered more took his breath away.
"Perhaps." Around them the force trembled as their emotions started to get the better of them.
"Don't get any closer!"
"You have nothing to fear from me. I'm not the man I once was." A sense of deja vu came over Anakin as he gazed at the boy. He wasn't reminded of Obi-Wan though his memory of Padme begging him to come back to her replayed. Why would he be thinking of her in this situation?
"Yes you are!" Tears streamed down Alecews' face even as he threw Anakin back with a force push.
"I won't hurt you!"
"How many believed that before you struck them down?!"
The air was thick with fear and Anakin knew all too well that fear led to making poor choices. Sure enough display glass shuddered, cracked and shattered. Jagged shards flew in the air as Alecew tried to escape. They were more or less evenly matched in strength in the force. Anakin didn't feel like testing his might and let the glass scrape the side of his face as he drew closer. Just when he was a breath away for Alecew a lightsaber ignited. The blue blades' tip was pointed directly at his throat.
"Are you going to kill me?" He probably should have sounded more concerned about his own life. In a strange way it felt oddly poetic to die this way.
"Don't make me." The hand shook but the blade still didn't find it's mark.
"Why are you afraid, Alecew?"
"You won't let me go," the teen hissed, "even if we weren't be hunting down or forced to be here...you'd never let me be free of you. Would you?"
For a moment Anakin ponders the question wondering why that would scare him. At first Anakins' sure that if pressed he would let Alecew go if that's what he truly wanted. He's learned his lesson from clinging too hard to Padme. Yet this answer rings false the more he thinks about it. Without Alecew his life would no longer have any meaning in this strange time. Alecew knows that just as he knows that for better or for worse he'll always be linked to Anakin Skywalker. Darth Vader. His former Padawan, friend and brother-in-arms. His murderer. For Obi-Wan it wouldn't be something he'd think twice on especially after Luke redeemed him. For Alecew it's an unthinkable burden.
The blade vanishes as a shudder passes through the youth, he hasn't passed the threshold to the darkside yet but it's close. Holding him close Anakin helps him ease away from the maelstrom of fear.

Re: As Long as It's You 8/?
(Anonymous) 2016-03-20 12:30 am (UTC)(link)Seeing Anakin had brought back his fears from his childhood dreams of Vader. Alecew was starting to think they had been visions and it terrified him to think he was trapped with the Jedi killer for his whole life. It's only in the aftermath of his attack does Alecew realize how close he was to tapping into the same dark power. Anakin hadn't let him out of his sight since the incident and Alecew couldn't say he entirely blamed him.
It comes as a surprise when they take off in their old ship which he's fairly certain was supposed to be locked up by one of the members of the council. The course was set before Anakin turned his attention back on the teen and Alecew tried to keep his fear at bay.
"I know this isn't easy. You feel like you've been lied to and manipulated. The council has forced us to stay within the temple walls like glorified prisoners. You may not believe it but I do know how that feels. I also know that misunderstandings can lead to a darker place." In a fluid motion Anakin kneeled next to his seat. "Before we came back I promised myself that I'd never fall to the darkside again. I won't let it have you either."
To make his point Anakin dared to lay his hands onto Alecews' wrist. Like or not they are linked and nothing would change that. It's a frightening thought but visually it's startling to note the absence of the prosthetics he had often seen in his nightmares. Cold mental was warm flesh. There's so much about the both of them that's mindblogging to realize that Alecew still has trouble accepting it all. They were dead for hundreds of years yet there they were flying across the galaxy once again.
"I hid my fears from those I cared about and let them consume me. It made it easy to be exploited. Tell me what you fear Alecew and we can come up with a solution together."
As much as he wanted to keep silent Alecew finds he can't because he doubted there was anyone else who would understand. Whether or not he can trust Anakin doesn't matter as much as venting his anxiety. The legends of Darth Vader come first followed by his visions and the trapped feeling he constantly has.
"Everyone knows what's best for me. I understand the reasoning behind the decisions made. I get the concept of the will of the force. But...do I have any free will?"
"Yes. Master Skywalker knows we left and we're both leaving the option of whether this ship returns in your hands. Do you want to go back to the temple?"
Alecew has already given the matter some serious thought. "I know the wise thing to do would be to stay to keep safe from the a order of Medap since I already proved I'm not to be trusted."
If he couldn't handle the truth without always falling apart it didn't seem likely that he's last long against them. Being an agent of evil isn't something he wanted to become.
"All you proved you needed to know the truth. Once you've accepted it there's nothing the order of Medap can use against you." Gentle caresses passed over Alecews' mental shields to test the waters. There was no demand for entry just letting the teen know he was there. "And I'm not asking what's logical. I'm asking what YOU want to do."
"I want to go." It's not the sort of thing a Jedi should say and Alecew instantly feels guilty for it. "But maybe we shouldn't..."
"No. We're leaving. If you want to return someday we will." A squeeze to the wrist reminds Alecew that the man from his nightmares was still holding onto him. At the moment it was hard to connect Anakin to the monster that slaughtered so many.
"I'd be risking everything for selfish reasons." Alecew felt the need to point this out fairly certain his shameful behavior was being brushed aside far too easily.
"You were the most selfless person I ever knew in our last life. If anyone deserves to be selfish it's you. As for risking everything I already told you that I won't allow you to turn to the darkside." The way Anakin said it Alecew could almost believe it was true.
After a moment of contemplating the opportunities open to him now the man rose with a small half smile. "Who knows, maybe you'll be the one getting married in this life."
"Maybe." A thought suddenly occurred to him out of no where that's utterly embarrassing and as if sensing his discomfort Anakin circled around to face him again.
"Is something bothering you? You can ask."
"No thank you." Alecew tried to drop the topic but Anakin wasn't having any of it.
"There's no need to be shy just because I know more than you." There was something childish about that statement that he chalked up to Anakin enjoying his role as the more experienced one a little too much. The tone annoyed Alecew so much he figured he might as well say what he thought and hoped it shut his companion up.
"Are you a virgin?"
Anakin blinked clearly not expecting that question. "Uh...no. I was married."
"Yes but in another life. So doesn't that mean that you are one now?"
"That's really none...alright techically yes. I simply haven't had any interest in anyone besides my wife." The man shrugged his shoulders as if it was nothing although his expression told another tale. That Anakin didn't like that he had been outmaneuvered and Alecew felt compelled to press his advantage.
"Then again...it's not exclusive to marriage."
"Don't try to be funny, Alecew."
"Well how old were you when you got married?" He suspected it wasn't much older than he was because Anakin sputtered and abruptly changed the subject.
It was strange how easy it was to go from being terrified of the former Sith to teasing him.
Re: As Long as It's You 8/?
(Anonymous) 2016-03-21 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)Re: As Long as It's You 9/?
(Anonymous) 2016-03-22 12:17 am (UTC)(link)The tension had decreased dramatically once the two of them were free of the temple. There's still the looming presence of Darth Vader in Alecews' mind but with time Anakin felt hopeful that they would overcome it together. When the dark Jedi find them the two of them make short work of them. It may not be as easy as it was with Obi-Wan thanks to the confusion Alecew feels but their connection has never faded. Sometimes their so in synch in battle Anakin feels tears of joy well up in his eyes. The rightness of it chases away the demons in his head because it's home.
When he can he does his best to re-teach Alecew the Jedi philosophy Obi-Wan taught him well aware how hollow it sounds from a former Sith. Anakin made sure to tell Alecew that they were his own lessons and while Obi-Wan sometimes doubted it his Padawan had always listened to his words. Having the knowledge improved the teens' focus greatly and in time will make it easier to secure his rightful place with the light.
It amazes Anakin to see Alecew bloom the way he does and seeing him fight off the influence of the dark sider users confirms it was right to tell him the truth. The Order of Medap tried to taunt Alecew with his past thinking Anakin hadn't. The attempts have less affect each time and Alecew seemed to be gaining more of a sense of self. Even so it comes as a shock when their introducing themselves to the farmers they just saved and he hears a familiar surname.
"I'm not going to deny the truth any longer. I can't if I want to be a Jedi. I can't be who I was but it's still a part of me." He had explained. "I'm Alecew Kenobi."
Anakin felt proud and hugged him without thinking. The tension slowly drained from Alecews' body making him all the more proud. Over their time together Anakin discovered that he was more openingly affectionate towards him often ruffling the youths' hair or such. Alecew never protests although he did sometimes flinch after learning the truth. It shouldn't come as a surprise that Alecew was growing physically yet it does. Anakin can't help notice the changes, the toned muscles, the added height and the tiny pinpoints of facial hair in the mourning. Not enough for proper stubble yet but it serves as a reminder the teen was growing up.
Worse was the realization of how that was starting to change Anakins' perception of him. While Alecew was always a good looking kid Anakin hadn't really thought of it much. Had he been as distracted by Obi-Wan when he was a Padawan? He honestly couldn't remember beside acknowledging--privately--that his master was an attractive man with pretty eyes. It was alarming to discover a fascination with his friends' beauty especially since he didn't recall ever being so distracted by it.
Jealousy flares up when Alecew flirts with a girl they saved. The teen was still somewhat shy and cautious after the tongue incident. Not that it mattered, he still had the same charm although Anakin had never thought much about his master flirting before. Usually it was something of an ongoing joke between Obi-Wan and a female enemy. Anakin had never known when or if he had been serious. Seeing Alecew with the girl doesn't make it any clearer as it all looks the same to Anakin. It does remind him of their talk of being a virgin and that he hadn't been much older when he married. He found himself wondering if the boy would wait until marriage and who he would marry. Alecew admitted to wanting to have kids some day and it's a concept Anakin can get behind. The idea of the Kenobi line continuing made him happy yet Anakin found himself displeased with how that would be achieved.
Despite feeling the same trappings of jealousy he had long since thought he outgrew Anakin does not act on the feeling. It isn't his place to dictate who Alecew sees, it never has been. In the end all he wished was for his friend to be happy and after ruining it in their last life Anakin was determined not to mess up their second chance. Still Anakin can't help wondering where the attraction came from. He literally can't look at Alecew without seeing a younger Obi-Wan which begs the question: did he always feel this way about Obi-Wan?
If he doesn't know there's little to no chance anyone else will. Luke, Leia and all those after them never saw them as Master and Padawan. How much Qui-Gon witnessed was always iffy given his state in death. Whatever Obi-Wan knew has been forgotten leaving the only other candidate Master Yoda. Throughout their time together in the Jedi order Anakin never felt like Yoda liked him and that always made him hesitate to open up to him. When he did Anakin had usually felt disappointed when he didn't get the advise he wanted.
"Seek guidance you do but only if it's want you want to hear, hmm? Sensed your attachment I have."
On instinct Anakin found himself gritting his teeth when he heard "attachment" after the countless lectures he had received. While Anakin had gone to the dark side over his attachment to Padme he had learned his lesson the hard way. He still didn't think that it was wrong to care so strongly for others as long as one was mindful. His children had proved that.
"So quick to judge." Yoda sighed shaking his head in disapproval. "Forget why Obi-Wan and you were sent back? Only together can balance be brought to the universe. Yet confused you are on how you feel?"
"I...I think I'm attracted to him."
Admitting such a thing to Yoda of all beings isn't an easy thing to do. He expected to see distaste in the ancient masters' face perhaps receive a reminder that Alice was younger than him and in another life was his master. When he dares to look at Yoda there isn't even a hint of surprise on his face. There's no trace of any emotion just patience as he waits for Anakin to continue.
"You already observed that didn't you?"
"Already knew of your affections for Obi-Wan I did." He said it like it's old news that he's too tired to hear again.
"I never felt like this back then." Anakin could hear the uncertainty in his own voice.
"Did you not? Felt it often I did. It was one of the reasons you disobeyed him. Wanted to get a reaction you did just not the one you wanted. When the senator--your wife," both of their expressions softened, "returned to your life made it simpler."
"...Did he feel the same?"
"Know this I do not. Better at hiding his personal affairs Obi-Wan was and I did not pry." Translucent pointed ears tipped up in interest. "What choice will you make, I wonder."
"What choice is there? I just know I have feelings for him, ones that I might have been in denial about with Obi-Wan. Now that I admitted it maybe I can move on. What else can I do?" Telling Alecew about this wasn't something Anakin thought was wise especially in the heels of the last bombshells the teen was still recovering from.
"Always a choice there is. A lesson you should have learned by now. Be careful you must or lost you will become once more."
"It won't happen again. I know it's not much but you have my word. I wouldn't throw away Lukes' efforts to become a slave again." The darkness no longer held any power over him, the appeal had long since worn off.
Leaving his chambers Anakin went in search of his friend throughout the old base. Anakin had made it his project to turn the place into a home and it was quickly shaping up thanks to the droids he had cobbled together. Alecew looked up from his data pad with a soft smile still present on his face from whatever he had been drawing. Much to Anakins' utter atonishment it looked like the Jedi temple they had once lived in before the dark times. He already knew that the boy dreamed (or rather had visions) of their past together. Even so the level of detail in Alecews' work was incredible.
In a flurry of excitement Alecew flipped through his work to explain what he had been seeing although Anakin didn't need to be told. He watched Alecew happily tell of more pleasant visions he had recently had with a smile on his face. It's only after the teen was flushing with pride over the compliments he's receiving does Anakin realize with a jolt that this wasn't some simple attraction. It wasn't a crush nor was it lust. Anakin loved Alecew, not the type of love he always assumed he shared with Obi-Wan--a platonic family kind of love. This wasn't the all consuming love he felt for Padme that burned through his veins. Somehow it ran deeper into his very core, comforting and intense at the same time.
Alecew was Obi-Wan, there were differences of course based on how they grew up but there was no separating the two sides. There was only one soul so deeply entangled with Anakins'. In life and in death they would spend eternity together, the sort of romantic notion that Anakin had always dreamed of. It wasn't supposed to be this way, he had never meant to fall in love with Alecew. He never imagined such a thing was possible and it's a bit frightening. For all his places love had never been a factor much less feeling that way for his former master and friend.
